Light touch getting heavy touch?

There has been no change.
There are plans to increase "work-focussed interviews" and "work preparation" activities for those in the light touch regime. (The law always allowed this, but DWP did not do this in practice.)
This was originally supposed to start last September, but was then pushed off to 2024 due to manpower issues.
I have yet to come across it in practice, but I suppose it is possible it has started in some areas.0 -
Did you actually confirm your labour market regime with your work coach?
I know you stated you thought where in light touch, but did you ask.

Muttleythefrog said:The government intention linked in your other thread perhaps explains... just happening perhaps less formally and with delay. Just think you have to accept they almost certainly are not going against any rules and try to honour your claimant commitment. The direction of travel... certainly with this government and quite possibly the next given language used by most likely minister... implies there is perceived escalating need to get more people into work and more work (and so expect commitments to notch up) especially with other pressing political hot potatoes cooking like immigration which could see significantly reducing workers from abroad. I don't think there's any more blood to be got out of the MSE stone... so if you feel the need for more black and white answer it might come down to your own research, talking to work coach or escalating enquiry such as with a FOI request.
No matter who the next Government is working age benefit claimants will be the target. So do expect that they will use more of their powers that they currently don't use and to bring other powers in at some point.

Yes the direction is clear. Light touch getting heavy touch.
it looks like the conservatives will be out soon anyway but whoever is next will be getting more heavy with the work search.
