Plusnet gave all customers a deadline to move who used 4g so they recommended the ee product I went for, chap in local phone repair shop said phone should be perfectly ok to work with 4g simcard, but which simcard if the ee
Simcard didn't work. At the end of the day phone isn't that old, just want a SIM card that is compatible to use mobile internet

Have a look at the APN settings on your phone. They should be OK but check anyway.

Well they didn't do a good job then. The first thing to do is check your APN settings.1

Sim deals - https://www.moneysavingexpert.com/cheap-mobile-finder/sim-only-filters/
Pick a one month one and if it doesn't work, you can cancel and 'only' lose a month's fee. Check your chosen providers signal where you are if poss, and maybe avoid any using EE signal?1
