Virgin media M250 Fibre Broadband

I am on the virgin media M250 broadband package , the WiFi in my house is shocking . I did a check earlier and it was saying the speed was very slow . It was coming up with Download speed of 26.20 and upload speed of 10.12
it also said beside it ping 44ms .

How slow is this and what should it be ? I rang VM but they were closed . I tried resetting the router. But I don’t think it worked . Can anyone advise me as I intend to rin* them in the morning

What is the speed when you are connected to the router via cable?The speed provided via WiFi is not really Virgin's issueThings that are differerent: draw & drawer, brought & bought, loose & lose, dose & does, payed & paid1

Virgin are providing the speeds to the router as advertised so no need to upgrade.WiFi speeds are affected by many things.There is lots of info about potential issues and a quick search should help.It could be the building structure, the channels of wifi being close to neighbours, the router being poor (very common) and moreThings that are differerent: draw & drawer, brought & bought, loose & lose, dose & does, payed & paid1

You need to realise WiFi and broadband are not the same thing , some devices like a desktop PC or a smart TV may be able to connect to your router by an Ethernet cable or WiFi , something like an IPad is only going to be WiFi , your provider only guarantees the speed to the router , because WiFi can be affected by the environment it’s working in , so you could have 250Mb at the router and if you had a wired PC , could see around about that speed at the PC , but WiFi has so many variables, that a WiFi device may register much lower speeds , but that’s between the router and the device, and the broadband provider doesn’t guarantee that speed, so any speed test really needs to be performed using a wired device to be any use.
if you don’t have any wired devices and only wireless ones ( phone, tablet etc ) then you really cannot check your speed with any certainty .1 -
