You can pay in cash at a paypoint (with a fee), and post cheques to them. I've never heard of them accepting cash by postpridehappy said:
I'm 100% sure I saw it somewhere, but it's maybe long gone. I'm unsure if they put a limit on it however. Never mind.WillPS said:pridehappy said:Have you checked if you can post the cash to your bank? I believe Monzo offer this feature. I’d just make sure it’s tracked and you get insurance from your delivery courier though.I've never seen a bank advise this as a method of cash deposit, for obvious reasons, and most postal services either refuse to carry it or at the least refuse to cover it in the case of loss.0 -
Thank you everyone. In the end I did manage to catch the bank open and used the ATM. I will probably still try the post office if the hours are better. The cash was from elderly parents that can’t use digital services.0

Why can't they use digital services?0

Not really a relevant question is it?Rob5342 said:Why can't they use digital services?
But lots of people don't and lots of people can't.
According to the governments Communications and Digital Committee (reporting in June 2023):- 2.4m people are still unable to complete a single basic digital task to get online.
- 5m workers will be acutely under skilled in basic digital skills by 2030.
- 1.7m households have no broadband or mobile internet access.

Because some people choose not to or just prefer to stick with what they know.Rob5342 said:Why can't they use digital services?
My mum is happy online reading stuff and playing games but still prefers banking in person and using cheques. She keeps track of her money in a spreadsheet and could easily cope with banking online but chooses not to.0 -
Yes sometimes they give me cheques which would be easier but on this occasion it was cash. Anyway it’s all sorted now. They can do some things online but they refuse to use digital banking.0

It is relevant as a thread has been running for three weeks over something that could have been done in 30 seconds. I just wondered if there was a reason they genuinely couldn't use online banking or if they were simply choosing not too.Zanderman said:

So don't use a Post Office then, you're saying? Doesn't feel like the kindest course of action for subpostmasters.
