With so many banks closing and now hard to get to (ie in town) where can I pay in my saved penny pots? It says you can withdraw from post office but can I pay in cash bag? Even post office isn’t that easy to get to. I have Barclays and been with for years so reluctant to switch.

How much have you got? When I had some I found the easiest way was to use it to pay at a supermarket self service checkout, and transfer a matching amount from my current to my savings account.

Your subpostmaster might apply a fair usage limit but they should be able to accommodate correctly counted cash bag pay ins. I've seen my local one do it using the parcel weighing scales, not sure if this is the 'official' method for them or not.As others have said it's fair to use self checkouts for this too, try to avoid busier times. Finally, depending on the size of your town and whether there are other banks - you could simply open an account with one which is remaining, in addition to keeping your Barclays account, purely for the purpose of occasional cash pay ins. There is no limit on the number of bank accounts you can hold and with faster payments cross-bank payments are usually instantaneous.

Hi
Banks etc that are covered by FSCS but look to see if their licencs are shared etc - google it
NS&I and if this fails, then you hve a lot more to worry about than the cash as its owned by us the taxpayers.
Good luck0 -
Shared or not, two banks can't be worse than one that the OP currently has.diystarter7 said:
