Hopefully their pre-existing medical conditions cover will decrease in price under Aviva - £120 extra for a small condition is scandalous!

I’ve since got an annual policy from Virgin Money for just £98, including the condition.

Unfortunately the previous medical condition’s that incurred “No Surcharge” for myself and my wife with UK Insurance, now attract a £90 surcharge with Aviva.
I wonder if Nationwide are aware of the additional surcharges being “earnt” by their new Flexplus Travel Insurer ?
Perhaps Aviva have taken the business with a view to fleece Nationwide’s loyal customer base.

Pop a complaint in. I doubt they'll be able to do anything about the fee, but you'll likely get something for your trouble.

With that out of the way you can then 'shop around' to see if the total cost of your insurance can be brought down with either a different packaged account or a dedicated annual policy. If you can't find any providers happy to take on your condition with 'no surcharge' then you'll know you must've had a very good deal up to now, and it's not that you're now being 'fleeced'.

Not looking forward to my renewal in September, so far all I can see as an alternative packaged account that I'm prepared to switch to is the Co-op...and they're antiquated and slow as my wife found out when she switched to them.

You don't need to switch anything to them, just open the account and set up a standing order to cover the monthly fee. Pop the debit cards away, downgrade your Nationwide account to FlexAccount or FlexDirect and jobsaguddon.

I certainly wouldn't recommend using The Co-operative Bank for any actual banking as things stand, but their packaged account is reasonable value.
