The situation is clear here - I need a report, preferably multiple reports agreeing with me as without that it’s a 50/50 based on the judge as to if they accept my facts or not.

Then get one. I'm sure you can find expert witnesses prepared to help (probably not on your High Street though). Whether you want to spend yet more money on their fees is another question.

Both lens shouldn’t have peeling in the corners of the layer which both lens DO have. That to me is a clear sign of a problem.
As I asked previously. What cleaning fluid do you use? As once lens is scratched or round edge where it has been glazed, this can get underneath the coating & start to bring it off due to the chemicals used in them.

Stick to clean water & some soap on your fingers, then rinse under tap. That's how we cleaned them in manufacturing. 👍

Be careful with soap. Hand / toilet soaps generally contain abrasive particles. As I found out to my cost!

One of the first questions anyone writing a report on the lenses will ask, too.

What gives you the impression that your chances are 50/50 without a report?  There are just the two outcomes, i.e. the judge accepts your view or they don't, but that doesn't mean they're equally likely....

Cheap is cheap for a reson- cheap materials that don't last as long as more expensive ones.

I bought glasses froma high street optician- £400 for high grade varifocals.

Moved away and Specsavers was the handiest optician. £200 for thier second highest grade varifocals.

They are still good , with no scratches, after 2 1/2 years but they not as good at my previous more expensive ones.

Is it worth £200 more  for the better ones. I am still contemplating that.

  • In answer to the fluid question. When I use fluid it is glasses cleaner designed for lens. But I typically just clean the lenses with a microfibre cloth.

If we follow the logic that something I used scratched the lens on the left then why isn’t the right effected? I’d never clean one lens only.

I’ve approached the manufacturers of the lenses for specsavers and they won’t speak to me either.

It seems to me there is a really customer hostile environment here, a fear based culture that stinks as far as I’m concerned.

No, there isn’t. This is a consumer rights forum, not a consumer wants forum where people will tell you what you want to hear.

Frankly, the glasses are in terrible condition and you’re going to need a miracle to win a court case. Especially when you have a zero evidence they are faulty.

Even if you did win, you wouldn’t get a full refund. It can be deducted to take into account the length of time you’ve had them and used them.

I personally think you’re clutching at straws here.!

Sadly we do not prescribe to giving false information or false hope 👌

I know it is not what you wanted to hear, but better to hear it now, rather than waste money on a losing court case. 👍
