I'm not playing this nonsense! Martin is another one effectively normalising this "plus 3.9%" thing which is surely the result of collusion between these companies and should be exposed/investigated and not accepted.

I ditched dire virgin media for a £120 MC801a 5g router and £15/month Smarty unlimited 5g SIM card - my broadband is now far faster and more reliable than the virgin media rubbish, no devious price hikes, no plus 3.9%, no dealing with anyone at virgin media. Hurray!
  • I'm cancelling BT service for 24 month contract ending  in May 24 but found out I can do this by email and 90days maximum from before contract end date .  Don't want to listen to call centre operator explaining why these hikes are justified ; when they're clearly not !
Did BT come back to you with any reduced offers?
  • can I ask why O2 use the RPI and all the others use CPI as it means O2 customers have a greater increase? I didn’t
realise this when I joined O2 in October ‘23 or else I would have tried somebody else.

RPI in February was 4.5%, but Virgin Media are using the 4.9% figure which was published in February but is actually for January. Is this legal?

I don't know why you would think it might be illegal!

But it is in their contract - https://prod.ctassets.virginmedia.com/uploads/Terms_and_Conditions_TV_Fibre_Phone_from_4_February_2024_35cc93ecec.pdf

Section K part 2 states "Unless we have informed you otherwise, your monthly subscription charges for your main services will increase each year in April by the Retail Price Index (RPI) rate of inflation based on the percentage change over 12 months announced by the Office for National Statistics in the preceding February of that year, plus an additional 3.9% which is applied at the same time."

So the contract states that they will use the figure announced in February, which is what they have done.

Please remove the claim that TT will offer a "No Price Rise" contract to "most vulnerable customers"
    It is totally UNTRUE
TT do not even use the term "Most Vulnerable"

If I was half as smart as I think I am - I'd be twice as smart as I REALLY am.

Surely that would only be for vulnerable people who are registered with them? That's not going to be on that general list?

I don't get contracts, instead, I use my 5G SIM card on a router and I pay only £10 a month.
