£5 pound coins

Options
Hi,

Not sure if this is right forum to post but I need free advice:-

I have 2 £5.00 coins which I had couple of years now. Is it possible to convert it to money?

Thanks
M

The Post Office will take them as will the banks or you could look to sell them on Ebay. Some are fetching quite a bit more than their face value....

    They are money.

That's what I thought but I went to my local post office and they refused to exchange.
They said that they no longer exchange £5 coins.

  • I spent two of them in WHSmiths, no questions asked. Bfx
  • I also took mine into the Post Office and they refused but, Nat West exchanged them no problem. HTH
  • I have a £5 coin from Gibraltar dated 1988. Are they still legal tender there?
