Managing Mat Leave

  • £5 spent yesterday on a too good to go bag, it was pretty good. Had my tea out of it last night and got lunch today for both of us, plus a ready meal in the freezer and a few other bits.

Didn't get the shopping done yesterday so one of us needs to do that today. It's only a few bits so I might brave it with the baby later. If not OH will go this evening.

Lots to try and catch up on today but not sure how much I'll manage:
    *Washing
    *Money Catch Up
    *Shopping
    *Walk
*Gym - I'd like to try and get 20 mins in the gym, will have to see what kind of day the baby has!
    *Couple of rows of crochet
    *Tidy bedroom
  • Didn't check in yesterday, had a bit of a bonkers day. Managed to get the fridge cleaned and got a click and collect for the shopping.

    Money spent yesterday:
46.75 on shopping - hoping we won't need to top up much, expensive March for shopping seems to be resulting in lower food needs this month - we have quite a bit of meat/fish/meals in the freezer which is helping. We've also been fed a lot by family since baby arrives.

    To do list for today:
*Meet friend for coffee and cake
    *Walk dog
*15 mins in gym (didn't manage this Tuesday, really itching to get back in there but struggling to make time around the washing and keeping on top.of the house)
    *Write thank you cards
*Money catch up - basically just means fill in my spreadsheets!
    *Put some washing away
*Possibly get a load of washing done

Hope everyone has a good day!
  • Had a good day yesterday, got everything done from my list apart from the money catch up. Busy day today, meeting someone for lunch then someone else for coffee afterwards so won't do much of a to do list today!

Have just checked the accounts, no money spent yesterday. OH did pick up milk but I think he must have put it on his card. My friend bought me coffee so nsd for me, I'll pay next time. Definitely won't be no spend today!

    To do:
    *Money catch up if time
    *One load of washing in
    *One load put away
*Crochet - haven't managed any for about a week now, would really like to get some done

Not much in the way of money saving activities this week, although I have signed up to mistplay. Spending a lot of time feeding the baby so might as well try and earn a few Amazon vouchers! Has anyone had much success with this type of app? I won't get tempted into spending my money on the games so I think it'll work out ok, even if I don't make much out of it!
  • Had a lovely day yesterday, was out most of the day but got washing done, nothing else though!

Spending was relatively high (needed a few bits and was out for food and coffees):
    13.70 brunch
    7.30 coffee x 2
13.84 nappies, lightbulbs and snacks for nursery pick up (probably could have planned the snacks better)
10.98 trousers and shorts for my son
17.49 on bits on superdrug - suncream etc

Have already got some of today's list done:
    *Washing hung out - DONE
*Mend sons trousers and coat - DONE
*Money Catch Up (this is so overdue - will definitely have time tomorrow though, even if I don't today)
    *Meal plan and shopping list
*Pay invoice for car MOT and service

I've also done a bit of tidying and sorting in the office whilst the baby was asleep so pretty productive so far! We're also going out for a few hours today so that'll probably be about it.

  • Very busy, well done.

Hope the new baby is settling well.

  • Happy Monday everyone! Hope everyone has had a nice weekend.

    Spending over the weekend:
42.45 on bits for the house - lightbulbs, wood trim, hook, play sand
    NSD on Sunday

    To do today:
*Money Catch Up - still not done! Haven't done this for a couple of weeks now so really need to prioritise this
*Washing (as always) - 1 load in, 1 away
    *Walk
*250 words of assignment - I should have some time for this this afternoon hopefully, might roll over to tomorrow

    Money saving stuff:
I need to list some things on vinted. I've got lots of mat clothes to sort through and list when I get a chance. Not necessarily trying to do this today just making a note of it!
I also need to look at our broadband and see if I can get it cheaper, we've been with the same provider for ages so might be worth switching!
Octopus have reduced our direct debit as we have so much credit, so I might put the rest of what we have been paying into our holiday savings to give that a little boost.

All very productive.  Did you know eBay have no selling fees for second hand clothes?
  • @peb ooh thank you, that is good to know!
  • Hi @FacelessNumber massive congratulations! Your lists continue to be impressive, especially with a newborn, amazing! You are making such great progress, holiday sounds like a wonderful idea!
  • Thank you @Aimingforthegoodlife, I don't manage to get much done some days for obvious reasons, but I find having a few priority things to do helpful, it stops me from just sitting on the sofa all day!

Got washing, walking and money catch up done yesterday. Also finished shopping list and have a click and collect booked for today.

    Spending yesterday:
*1.73 - meal plan notebook - we find these so helpful for being organised and they have a year's worth of pages in. I used my first £5 voucher from mistplay so will chuck the £5 in holiday savings
*18.06 - craft kit for a frame for the baby room

    To do today:
*Assignment - need to try and get a good chunk of this done as not long until it's due in, can't wait to have this out of the way!
    *Put washing away
    *Pick up shopping
    *Sort out baby clothes
