Argh glad it’s sort of resolved - annoying though and leaves a bad taste in your mouth
    Sealed pot challenge 822

    Jan - £176.66 :j
  • Thanks all,
I appreciate you popping by. Dawnybabes it has left a bad taste you're right. We had such good communication going well are a little upset they didn't just come to us instead of causing unnecessary upset and ruining our whole weekend and causing stress that wasn't needed. And breathe.

So I've spent a fair while sourcing materials (luckily we've done four houses up and have plenty of skills in sourcing cheaper and doing the work and already have the tools). What they were trying to get £7.5k off the house price for we've managed to source materials for £261.21 with £10.90 cashback too so £250 thereabouts. All out of our budgeted bonus money though so meaning we will be short in the coming months. Not too much though so I'm happy about that.
I'm pleased we've come to an agreement don't get me wrong. If It sounds like there is a but coming that's because there is. BUT when we showed them around the house we agreed with them these small issues could have been done. We'd basically spent all our money at that point though, the house was safe, secure, done and these were long term jobs. AND THEN we pointed out this is why we've put the house on for slightly less than the top price (actually 10k under the higher valuations) and we thought that way any new owner can do these cheaply themselves and add value (plus we wanted a quick sale). Unbelievable that they said no it doesn't matter to us. To come back TWO months later and say yes actually it does. And we want 7.5k off for doing them. We've done it for £250 pretty much.

One job DP is doing right now, I will do the other small job when the bits arrive from ama zone. And tomorrow the biggest job will commence. I pray it takes just one day because I'm feeling so resentful, stressed and emotional right now. DP actually said to the couple on the second viewing if it is a deal breaker please let me know I will do these small jobs before we agree anything. Ugh ... Ok I will shut up now as I'm feeling myself getting upset again.

I just need to get to exchange in one piece but I can feel myself frazzling at the edges.

We are chasing solicitors up tomorrow to see if 1- they've typed up and sent back the enquiries we answered yesterday with her. And 2- if the enquiries going forward for our purchase are typed up and sent. We don't even care if we annoy them anymore 🙈🤣 we just want to get to the end of it all. We've sold three houses in four years now and bought three and I feel I've had enough of it all ....I want to stay put in the next one (not all the houses sold were mine though I acted on behalf of family as I was in area and they weren't but I dealt with EA and solicitors).

Sadly not anywhere near a NSD today 🤣🙈

However I do have some good news. The food budget is for once on track 😁
The dentist today cost me £47 more than I budgeted as I needed a replacement filling which she did there and then but I was grateful as I didn't have to make another appointment. I will have a look see if I can shuffle some money about for that.
Item I bought online is in process of being sent back. The money redirected in the budget to ama zone yearly subscription.
So that's that covered. Just the dentist I've overspent on really at the moment.

If we manage to make any more money from sales I will try to top the budget pot for bonus money back up again.

Ok think that's enough moans for one day 🤣 I'm sure I will be back with more tomorrow...

  • Oh also had removals quote this morning. Too much and DP didn't like his energy 🤷🏻‍♀️🤣
Last one tomorrow but the way the budget looks I think we've decided on the cheapest one anyway as we've no choice.

  • Last removals quote is due soon. Will do this then decide on who we are going with.

I had an email about the item I received that was damaged and I wanted a refund from. They offered me 50% off or to send back. I told them I wanted it sent back and the quality was absolutely shocking and under trading standards acts they ought reconsider their description.
I've had another email after it was escalated to their department that deals with awkward people (I didn't ask for them to escalate it) 🤣 I forgot what it was called... and they have reconsidered I can keep the item to dispose of or keep and they have actioned a full refund.
    😁👌

I will repaint it. It was supposed to be a handmade bit of furniture with beautiful mandalas on and it's come looking like a five year old painted it. And does not look like it wood it looks like MDF.

So £50 almost saved on the budget which was redirected to pay for prime membership due in a few weeks. And I will keep the item flat packed now till I move and then decide what to do with it.

I'm off to see my friend today. DP is going to be doing the big job later when I go.
FLD has been sick and is looking lethargic I'm wondering if it's heat stroke? We have had the back door open whilst back and forth to garage doing jobs yesterday and FLD kept lying in the grass in the sun. I kept shooing him back in but he wasn't having it. And I couldn't shut the door as we were so busy in and out. I will get DP to keep an eye on him and I hope it's nothing serious again. He's looking so old some days so could just be age. ... Right off for now!

  • Oh wow the last removals have messaged us and told us that the job is too big and that they won't be able to take it on 😳 we don't live in a mansion and their website says house moves ...hmm strange. Anyway have others to choose from.

DP ended up using less materials than he thought so we will return some tomorrow. I've ordered some door knobs from tool station to replace the ones I have so I can take mine with me. £18 for 8. The new buyer was going to buy some but has quit messaging me. I have bought them myself as honestly I don't want to message her. I will get to take mine with me and she'd already agreed on this albeit it was going to be at her expense. But we've seen how that is panning out.

Solicitors are sending over enquiries today and we hope to have most if not all done by end of next week now I think. And then we can look at exchange dates. With a view to complete shortly after that rather than on the same day.

Sorry to hear re all this stress £250 v £7.5k you are winning

On the YNAB - you could do a fresh start and set it up by step with NIck True's 2022 set up ynab video  - you can then pause him as you do each step - its much easier.

I love ynab - i feel much more in control and less stressed - the cc way it works can take a moment to get but he has done a great video on that too, better than the ynab people i think

    DON'T BUY STUFF (from Frugalwoods)
No seriously, just don’t buy things. 99% of our success with our savings rate is attributed to the fact that we don’t buy things... You can and should take advantage of discounts.... But at the end of the day, the only way to truly save money is to not buy stuff.    Money doesn’t walk out of your wallet on its own accord.
