Week in hand is fairly straighforward and would transfer - if they short pay you ten it'll be a really simple AcAS and ET1 claim for non payment of holiday pay and week in hand. If it happens PM me, but until it happens don't count on the money or borrow trouble.
  • Thanks for popping in @~FlowerPot~ @skint_spice @beanielou@redofromstart It is nice to have online friends on the same page. I told my colleague/friend yesterday about trying to pay down the mortgage and she went off on a total rant about not having any money and it isn't fair that she has to pay £1300 a month rent like it was my fault :hushed: I didn't dare tell her that it was her earlier rant, a few months ago that had me seeking out my password to get back into MSE diaries :expressionless: she was telling me about moving home and how much rent was now and I was truly gobsmacked to the point I thought well, my mortgage is only £516 a month and I complain I have no money half the time. No savings etc and I need to do something about it. So here I am....I didn't dare tell her I pulled it around, am paying down the mortgage (albeit slowly) and building up savings for things, that did feel a bit heartless. But she was talking money, and savings (she had 4k+ in savings for the new house) and silly me felt it would be okay to share too. I shall remember only to share things that makes them feel like they are doing better than me in future. Eeek...lesson learned. I notice on these boards we all earn different amounts, we all have different lifestyles, some uber frugal some not so much and some in big houses, some in small ones, but we all share a commonality which urges one another on to do well even if they 'financially' are doing better than you. So with that in mind I shall save my 'sharings' to MSE and one other real life friend who is on the same page as me. Yikes lol

Thanks for the bank swapping chat as I really was pondering on that yesterday because a hundred quid is half of the OP I am trying to make each month so that would be a nice easy bonus to make.  I will go and have a better look to understand it all  Redo, I am not counting on it in my budget, there has already been three members of staff who have not been paid it....I went and did some digging yesterday with old staff.

My friend/ colleague at work yesterday was on one, perhaps I incited it unknowingly by saying I was trying to pay the mortgage down, thank god I didn't get to numbers I think had she known how little my mortgage is in comparison to her rent she would have exploded and I would have had to have cleaned it all up getting even more behind in my work   but she moaned the entire shift and I felt utterly drained by the end. You see the thing with me is I can have a bad day but I don’t let it linger in my aura, I rant it out and move on whereas she will stay stuck there ranting over and over about the same thing. It is really stressful to listen to even when I try to tune out. She told me she was diagnosed with some sort of catastrophising disorder so it makes sense but oh boy it is stressful and I can’t listen to it for long without feeling emotionally sick. I will have it again today I just know it. I understand she is stressed from moving so that kinda triggers it I guess but it is like verbal diarrhoea and it descends from current worries into every single thing that has gone wrong for her over the last 50 years (she’s not actually that old  but it feels like 50 years of woes).

    6 more shifts……

I had an email this morning to say what a wonderful job I did yesterday on shift that must be why I collapsed into bed by 8 pm last night and slept till 6.50 this morning! I had to re-do the work of someone from the day before. I am hopeful of an easier day today  (and pigs might fly ha).

DS2 asked me to buy him some sliders yesterday but I found some laying around in a cupboard this morning instead so hopefully they still fit. He is actually being nice to DP & I…..it will last the week until he goes off to exH again and then he will need another 2 weeks to decompress once back again *sigh* where is the face palm emoji  or rolley eyes one…

MS news, ummm I am down to £s in my bank account. Nothing due out thankfully but not much going on because I have not much left. DP somehow has £40 left I will try to extract some from him to make my MOP goal  stay tuned…

Dinner is out the freezer, still have food in but I will do an online shop now for the weekend. Because my shop this week was only £54 it won’t last very long. It lasted until the next pay run though that’s all that matters

I have £7.75 on my jam doughnut app in CB for food shops. I must try to remember to use it for other websites too. I keep forgetting. I also went through SB for my shopping which promised me 100SB but hasn’t credited yet. I have £10 voucher pending on SB too I will get another aamazon one as they are most useful out of all the list.

I filled out my paper budget yesterday for next month. I should have a similar month to this one because of wages owed, so this is good, it gives me a month’s grace to find another small job. Or not. We can get through the month without it now which is nice. Now I’ve started on my mission to get rid of the mortgage and have savings though it would be nice to have my wage as the extra to do that…….hmm….

My budget planner has a monthly budget review page, I will fill out here what I wrote in it-

Monthly savings pots as they stand now (to date I might be able to do a bit more before Monday) since Jan:-

    * MOP savings £900

    * EF savings £1005.78

    * MOP directly to mortgage £333

DID I meet my budget? Yes I did

Things to improve: Having a continual float of more than £50 in my main bank account

My biggest wins: Reaching £1000 in my EF in 3 months as well as the MOP combined. That is £2k+ saved! Food budget being so low! And sales from things which also meant decluttering the house a little. Making meal plans and sticking to them and the batch cooking.

Next month’s goals:- £1250 in the EF. £200 on to the MOP (I like to aim high :joy: )

It is my sister’s birthday this weekend, I am re-gifting chocolates I got for my birthday  and I have also bought her some oldies dvds for her collection so spent less than £20 although I need to get her a card too yet.

Okay think that is all for now, should be another NSD too

Savings- in my other diary I complained a lot about a house I bought at the height of the housing market ....which then crashed and I couldn't get rid of the house for love & definitely not money. It took 15 years for the house to be out of negative equity and I finally last October had a nudge from the universe to see how much the house might be worth. I got an estate agent round and it was finally over what i paid for it. I got in touch with the rental agents and by a stroke of luck they had an interested party who wanted a house on that estate with the tenant in place! It sold and I came away with approx £25k. We used 5k on the house (it is actually part of the 30k I spoke about before) and I have put 20k into an ISA where I try, for the most part to forget about it until it's maturity. I do not have a pension and that house was always supposed to be my pension.

Good, didn't want a nasty surprise turning up with a fine attached, at the most inconvenient moment.

I don’t really get into details money with most of my friends but luckily I met one of my best friends on mse so she gets me😂 I have mentioned to most folk that I am trying to get rid of my mortgage by 60 (7years early) so I can leave full time employment but I am actually trying to get rid of it earlier than that if possible.  We all have different priorities but they would probably think I was bonkers 😂

Yes and honestly this did nearly catch me out. I have never sold a property other than the one I live in before and didn't know anything about CGT....my solicitors didn't tell me, nor estate agents, nor the mortgage company, nor anyone else along the way. It was my DP's dad who told us! We paid for someone to do it as I found it too confusing and it didn't cost me very much -less than I thought as the equity was so low after having been in negative equity for so long.

Oh wow a RL MSE friend!!! Ha we all need one of those! I would also love to be done with the mortgage before 60 and if we don't upsize the mortgage, dare I say it but I reckon we could be done by 55. But I think we both want to move so 60 is probably more achievable and still earlier than we are planned for by 5 years!

  • I've just done a survey, after complaining I never got any offered, I now seem to be offered lots every day :confounded: lol this last one took me 40 odd minutes which was a pretty long one and I was feeling a bit of brain ache by the end. If it pays out though I can send the money across to the MOP and get to colour that other square in that is currently £7 short of being coloured in  Ok off to get ready for work now anyway....

Oh and whilst I was doing that someone I know has dropped a load of plants in pots around for me for free  not that I needed any but they have no space for them so I offered up a corner of my garden to save them!

  • Morning all,

I am getting ready for the new month which starts for us on Monday. It's quite a long one really, 4 and a half weeks from this payday coming up to the next one. I have done the meal plan for the month and ordered 2 shops from Mr T and Mr S as I was price comparing and there is a big difference in some of the items so it seemed wiser to open up two pages, book two saver slots (£5 for both) and price compare as I went down my list. I have spent over £200 on that first shop across the two I will update my sig when it comes out on Sunday/ Monday though. I needed bulk bags of rice, pasta and other cupboard items which I usually have in bulk so a big chunk is on stuff like that. I have also ordered all items that can be frozen and that were on offer for the entire month so I don't think it's too bad actually. Pre-January this was a weekly shop for us *hides in shame* very un-MSE eh...

So on our meal plan this month, taking into consideration everyone's moans and pleas for something new  is as follows and I notice with all their requests there is quite a lot of processed rubbish on it. I will allow it though it is the Easter hols and we will be home all day and have holidays planned so this is their treat. And if we were to get the takeaway option that would also be full of rubbish and expensive:

    3 x Dhal
3 x Jacket potatoes (topped with whatever is either left over or beans/ cheese with salad)
3 x cupboard or freezer meals
    2 x sausage n mash with veg
    2 x HM veg pie n mash
2 x tofu dishes with rice
    2 x cottage pies
    2 x spag bol
1 x fake chick'n burgers and HM wedges
1 x veg burgers, rice, salad and veg
    1 x sausage casserole
    1 x burger and chips
1 x fakeaway - sub rolls with plant balls in tomato sauce and cheese with wedges
1 x fakeaway mock duck in pancakes and rice
1 x Hm chick'n and mushroom pie n mash (made with airfryed tofu seasoned so chick'n ish haha)
1 x sticky cauliflower topped with sesame seeds and spring onions with rice and salad and crackers
    1 x ratatouille
1 x linguine with roasted squash & courgette
    1 x fakeaway kebab & rice

Hopefully this will keep everyone happy and no one pining or begging for takeaways during the holidays. Also have pizzas ready to make for their lunches with naan bread, cheese and tomato pastes.

I have cashed out £10 on the cashback app I use for buying my shopping. That takes a couple of days to get to my account apparently but I will send that over to my MOP when it arrives. It may go towards next months OPs though depending on when it hits my bank. I did four more small studies/ surveys, I have £5.68 on that account I will wait until it is over payout threshold before requesting it that is also for MOP.

I was paid this morning and most of my wages is allocated to the month's shop  but tis what it tis .... in that shop I also ordered easter eggs and other items that aren't necessarily part of my food budget, but for now I will just count it as food budget.

To get us through the weekend I am off to blitz up some humous from chickpeas leftover, and I will make some flapjacks and divvy up for the next few days snacks as otherwise kids will be moaning no end. DS ate two dinners last night. DD is complaining of being hungry WHY do both have to have growth spurts at the same time  So will pacify both with as many treats as I can whip up (will slice up all leftover celery, carrots etc for snack dipping as well)

Okay best get to it as need to cook the flapjack.... not a NSD as I have spent money on the food even though it doesn't arrive till end of weekend and Monday. Hope everyone has a lovely Friday. 5 more shifts left at work for me! Getting excited now to leave
