Thanks Dawny, I am vegan atm, but honestly debating adding eggs back in right now as finding it impossible to do this without total stress
...I haven't just yet but I am debating it ...
I have been food shopping today. UGH.
So I am totally on board with the GF thing, so really needed to start from scratch in the food cupboard, getting alternatives for me etc (can you see where this is heading)...and I have decided that i will get the kids and DP the usuals, buy me the GF (as invariably it was always more expensive for GF ) and so I have basically done 2 food shops todayLet's just cut to the chase here, I have spent £195.85 😥 In this I have things for dinners, lunches & breakfast just for me (i.e bread, wraps, falafels, plant balls, lunch snacks etc). I went to Mr Al to get everything I could there ( tins, frozen veg, cleaning bits) and then Mr S for fresh organics, GF/Vegan. If there is any consolation (I don't think there is) I got CB on the S'bury shop around £4. Feeling a bit deflated by this...when I delved into GF pricings before it is what put me off changing over permanently then.....but health dictates I do it now so It is what it is.
Upsides today- I had £200 put aside for a bed base (we're on the floor still and totally had enough), also £150 buffer which I really didn't want to use as I wanted that for DIY stuff/ and / or new xmas tree but it was there in case. We found a bed base in the CS 👏 It was out the back and we asked if they had any and when he said yes we asked, could we see it, we kinda put it out there we wanted one for £100 and he sold it to us for £100 👏👏👏🥳 Yay. £25 delivery too but we couldn't get that in our saloon. So we had a look for a christmas tree and found one we liked on xmas tree world, found a 5% voucher for new customers, and got qu1dco CB too and we have about £35 left for DIY now which isn't much but quite honestly DP doesn't seem too bothered about starting anything big soon anyway. I think we've had a busy few months and deserve a break (I say this as he has a screwdriver out and is attempting to take the WM apart as it is all rattly). So food shop aside we had success elsewhere today. I even got a refund from a purchase yesterday too so that's sorted out.
We popped into a new CS in town and I bought two skirts for myself for £11.99. Really happy with that. I have been aiming to get out of jeans and trousers so have some choices now.
Paid the survey money into the SBF. And my CB app is nearly ready to pay out too.MORTGAGE BALANCE when we moved Aug 2024, £120,000. January 1st £118,267.06. That’s a really good day 😊
So pleased about the bed base as that will make a real difference to the quality of your sleep / life. That Christmas tree sounds like a real bargain too 😊
As for the GF, I hope it will feel more worth it as you start to feel better.I really, really hear you about the eggs thing. I was vegan for about four years and found it exhausting as I had to completely relearn how to cook. Also, once I moved back in full time with Mr KK I couldn’t cook two separate meals from scratch every day, so I found myself eating a lot of UPF vegan things. In the end I decided it was cheaper, easier and healthier to reintroduce free range / organic cheese and eggs back into my diet than keep struggling / compromising. ATM, I am eating more vegan things as I have the time to make them - for example your bean burgers 😊 I’m hoping to add more to my vegan options suite of recipes so when I go back to work I will be 50/50 vegan / veggie at least. My primary aim here being to eat more plant than animal foods wherever possible. The other thing I would say about eggs is take it slowly if you do decide to start eating them again so your body has chance to adjust to digesting and processing them again. There are some seriously knowledgeable and passionate vegans hereabouts who don’t lecture. Might be worth starting a specific thread on the topic to ask for help?

Thanks KK I am a bit disappointed tbh if I have to add them back in but I'm really struggling to see how not to. Especially with the pre made stuff. I can find plenty of GF and dairy free and egg free things but not necessarily all in the same products. I will carry on cooking vegan at home every meal. I've been vegan five years and veggie/ almost vegan for probably ten years now. I can't eat dairy as I have migraines/ sickness/ ibs so need to find a way round this and wouldn't be able to add dairy back in without getting ill - I also don't eat sulphites Nor aspartame type sweeteners. I picked up some gf & dairy free bits in Mr S today but they have egg in. I've not had them yet but I think I'll be okay. I have never *touch wood* had an allergic reaction to eggs. Just disappointed I have no options aside from making everything from scratch myself, which is costly in money and precious time.
Xmas tree was pretty expensive but I had a really nice one before and wanted a similar one. The last one was starting to fall apart but it cost me £25 in a Jan sale around twenty years ago so I was ready to let it go and get a new one. DP was excited for us to get our first Xmas tree together 🥰 so I knew it was going to cost a fair bit and hoped the bed would come in under budget so I could get it this month 😁👏🏼.
DP and I are feeling slightly under the weather today. We were pretty tired last night when we went out and just thought it was because we rarely go out and maybe it was just a late night causing it (feeling old 😂), but we've woken up with what feels like a hangover, we had one drink each around 6;30pm and stuck to water/ soft drinks after that?! Odd as we both now feel like we've been drinking all night yesterday 😭😂 I'm pretty peeved I got a hangover without the getting drunk part. So although we had a busy morning shopping we've not done very much this afternoon..I cooked a big breakfast/ brunch/ lunch and we didn't even bother with dinner as didn't want it. So that was nice and easy.
DP fixed the WM and the fridge that keeps leaking, he's tried to fix the amp for the record player but not having much luck so has ordered some parts for it. And we've sat and watched a movie and had a pretty lazy day 😁 I'm just praying I'm not coming down with a bug. Everyone around us seems to have it, and we peopled hard last night with hundreds of people in the venue. Early night tonight I think. We are both looking forward to Tuesday when our bed is arriving! Since I started gardening regularly my back is feeling the floor- it's the getting up a dozen times in the night bit that I'm struggling with 😂 my back is usually seized up by then lol. Be much easier to get out of a bed than off the floor.MORTGAGE BALANCE when we moved Aug 2024, £120,000. January 1st £118,267.06. Why are you getting up so much in the night?Go for eggs in prepared things then - there won’t be a lot of it and it should ease the workload a bit for you 😊
I was somewhat disappointed in myself too, but decided that my health was more important and I would try over time, as I felt better that I would cook more, which I am.So sweet that DP was excited about getting your first tree together 🤩❤️

There’s lots of FB groups for the GF on FB
Most coeliacs are dairy intolerant at diagnosis but once been GF for a few months and the body started healing can reintroduce it
love the first Xmas tree together 🥰🥰🥰🥰. We picked a new ornament each year for the tree and now I do it with my DS and always put it on the same branch as the star with DH picture in so he can see it 😘Sealed pot challenge 822

Hi DFW321. Coeliac here. Just delurking to wonder if you’ve been to the gp for a coeliac blood test? You need to do this before you give up gluten. Apologies if you’ve already done this and I’ve missed it. Worth getting a diagnosis if you can, as it leads to additional healthcare (eg bone density scans) and also a possibility of some gf items on prescription. More info here: https://www.coeliac.org.uk/information-and-support/coeliac-disease/getting-diagnosed/
Loving your thread. I moved house a few weeks behind you so I was following with interest. You spurred me on to get organised and start packing good and early!
Good luck with the new job!1 -

Love that idea of ornaments. I have for the last ten years or so bought the kids and ornament each and I wrap it on their main present under the ribbon so they have a selection of ornaments ready when they have their own trees. DS1 moved out and had a whole box of Xmas tree ornaments ready to go on his. 😍MORTGAGE BALANCE when we moved Aug 2024, £120,000. January 1st £118,267.06. Good luck with the new job!
The hot flushes have totally disappeared only days off of it. How long have I had this diary? That's how long I've been moaning about hot flushes 😭🤣🤣.
I hope your move went well and you love your new home 😍😁 glad I inspired you to get organised early I think it helped me to manage stresses elsewhere (blooming over charge fees and solicitors communication and buyers trying to get money off etc) at least I was decluttered and packed up 🤣.
Thank you I'm feeling a bit nervous but hopefully it will be okay tomorrow. At least I've sorted out these hot flushes I was dreading sitting with a student and then that feeling I get. Then FIRE!!! I'M ON FIRE 🔥 🔥 🔥 and then it being gone and me feeling like I'm a sweaty mess 🤣MORTGAGE BALANCE when we moved Aug 2024, £120,000. January 1st £118,267.06. Some doctors will still send you for the bone density scan without the official ‘diagnosis’ - I’ve not needed to be tested as my DS was diagnosed by biopsy (15 years ago) and bloods and it runs in families - I was perfectly fine for years then about 6 years ago it started to grumble a bit (but I ignored it !) then nearly 4 years it jumped off the ledge and now I’m super sensitive. We don’t get GF prescriptions here - not many areas do 😩😩😩😩Sealed pot challenge 822
