I didn't have a single one last night and slept snuggly. The difference was- we had the heating on 20 rather than 21. And we switched it off early. Being up in the loft all the heat is rising so I think it is making the room too hot already and then my broken internal temperature gauge likes to act up

So I recently discarded a record cabinet in annoyance because the removals people chipped a load of veneer off it- it's been sat in the corner of the lean to with boxes upon it, looking very sad for itself. It was a MCM piece and I had really liked it (and it was a bargain on fb that I was really pleased about). I do DIY but I have never attempted re-doing veneer. I have had a look this morning and decided I probably could try it. BUT in an effort to keep costs down right now I pulled out the trusty wood filler instead and have just filled the holes in. I will paint it instead. I have baskets and baskets of furniture paint so will choose something that has enough in the tin (or mix a couple) and give it a paint. Then I can relocate the record player and CD player (currently one is on a cupboard, the other had no room so is under the cupboard and the amp is perched somewhere in between) and it can all live together again happily. It also means I have a permanent home for our records again.
My face cream has just arrived, i literally was scraping round the edge of the jar this morning to get the last out, so that was perfect timing!
I have a £4 refund which I will let sit in the food budget for now as that is where it was stolen from anyway (returned that top to CS).
I have found dinner for tonight for me and the kids- fakeaway fish'n'chips (veggie for DD & I). Tomorrow I will do pasta and sauce, and then I have tofu & sweet and sour with rice for Friday.
The kids were supposed to go to their dad's house on Friday but DD is very clever in putting him off, saying she will go but then following up with- I was supposed to go to my friend's house for a halloween thing but it's okay....so anyway long guilt trip short she is now going on Tuesday. As much as I don't really like them going anyway as they come back moody, uncommunicative etc they haven't seen him in 2 months and well, I would like to crack on with their rooms minus them in it! They're going for a week on Tuesday I think so they will still get to go (they get 2 weeks off this half term).
Right anyway that wood filler will be dry soon, I am going to choose some paintMORTGAGE BALANCE when we moved Aug 2024, £120,000. January 1st £118,267.06. Two coats of paint on the cabinet so far and I think it was a good choice. It would have ended up at the dump otherwise.
Engineer did turn up and everything has been installed.
FLD was sick three times. I don't know whether he's eaten something 😟 or whether it was stress from the noise of the drills when engineers were here or what. He's lethargic too. I have given him some charcoal and some leftover medicine we had from the last bout of sickness am sat with him. I was calling him for a walk and he didn't come, he's mostly deaf anyway so I thought I'd go find him. He was curled up under a cupboard which he never does. 😢 I've put off the Walk to the PO and will sit with him to see if he improves. He's breathing very deeply and his heart is pounding. But he has this often (vet can't find anything wrong?) and he's wriggling about a lot I think he's uncomfortable and in pain. I will see if I have any painkillers left and let him rest and hopefully sleep it off 😢.
Thankfully dinner is super quick and easy so I can stay with him.
It would be on a day when we don't have a car though....so let's hope he improves or I will be carrying him to the vets.MORTGAGE BALANCE when we moved Aug 2024, £120,000. January 1st £118,267.06. I've sat down and done surveys whilst waiting for his pain med to kick in. He's sleeping now thankfully and I managed to cash out a fiver - it takes a few days to arrive in PP though this survey site.
Dinner has been done and I love it when I feed just the kids and me as they don't complain when I dish out something totally random 😂 tonight's offering was fake fish finger things, DD picked them up in MR T and I promised she could have them with a dinner...to balance it though I did mixed veg and new pots and then found some buns so the kids had that with their fish fingers.
NSD was had 🥳

Long story short, FLD ended up at the vets. I was in there an hour sobbing...the choice was do what the vets did last time treat the sickness but the suspected congenital heart failure is more apparent now and is not just probable any more. He has all the symptoms.
DP isn't here.
I couldn't get hold of my sister.
I made the decision to let him go peacefully- but have delayed it. The kids are on their way home to say goodbye. 😭.
His quality of life since his seizures last year has progressively gotten worse - he's almost blind, is deaf and couldn't even stand up this morning and was panting so hard. I wanted to be selfish and send him for tests and give him drugs but then my sister (the one I don't speak to) popped to mind, she delayed her dog's end by four years when he was ready to let go. I don't know if you can ever decide if you're making the right choice but FLD has had a great 12 years and this last year has been really tough on him with health issues and not being able to walk far. So I've made the decision wrong or right. And after the kids have said their goodbyes we will walk him down one last time to the vets (in the bike basket as he can't actually walk today) and say goodnight 😢😞😓.

Sending hugs, losing much loved pets who are part of the family is so hard. Well done though for putting FLD first.0
