    • Hoover downstairs
    • Hoover both sets of stairs
    • Hoover upstairs
    • Clean the window in my room
    • Hang the washing out
    • Prep dinner
    • Check to see if my bike is okay to use It's not needs some TLC
    • Pop to the shops to see if I can get some more curtain hooks for the dining room. We bought two sets of curtains in Ikea the other week and they fit perfectly in the dining room! Bargain too for £14 we got two sets and they match the colours already in there which is helpful. Not enough hooks up there for two sets though so need more.
    • Feed kids lunch or else they eat all the snacks.
    • Do a bit more garden clearing
    • Clear off the dining table- I have realised most of what is left is glassware or tupperware! SO just need one cupboard to squeeze them into and if I can't find enough cupboard space I will put them in a large plastic box with lid and store in the conservatory which is fast becoming our larder are- it has the fridge, freezer, dog food, all bulk food in so what is another box with some tupperware lol it also has the spare sofa and wingback chair waiting for somewhere else to go...

Next is lunch, then the dining table. Walked FLD already too so he is happily snoring away somewhere out from under my feet. Will be a NSD I think, I will pop to the shops tomorrow now as bike needs some tlc and I am not sure where the bike pump lives at the moment

Edited to cross off a few more, but I am done for today. Washing is in and folded but ironing pile is getting bigger and bigger (DP likes that so I will delegate).
DP rang after the interview, he was in there an hour and a half and said it went really well. He thinks there are a few more interviewing today and he's been told he will know by the end of the week. He seemed really happy coming out of it, so I guess at least he knows he's done everything he can now. He's promised to come home and switch on DIY and homemaking mode as he's been sat in his office all weekend preparing for the interview  I am looking forward to a few small jobs being done then.

I've messaged my friend as she was really struggling a few weeks back what with her C treatment side effects and also her husband suffering with his own C illness. She's not really responding to me aside from very short messages which is unlike her, I don't want to intrude but also I am worried about her MH so will maybe invite her over to meet me in a cafe somewhere for a chat when kids are back at school.

My dining table is clear (again) woop! However things currently have the most random of homes  Anyway I am stopping for the day aside from dinner & clear up.......might have a catch up on here whilst DD watches TV

  • Well both kids have gone to school, I walked with them to show them the shortest way as there is several different ways they could go. It took 20 minutes at a slow pace so I am sure they could cut that down, both are taller than me, longer strides and would have been quicker without me. DD was stroppy because she was nervous and DS was showering 10 minutes before we were supposed to leave AND then forgot his lunch and water bottle even though DD had put it next to his bag!!! 😏😒
Anyway after giving him £3 as we got there (he decided to tell me he forgot it as we were approaching the last leg of the walk) they both went off. My nephew turned up five minutes later and met DS at the gates. I hope they both have a good day.

I didn't sleep well again last night, so am feeling very tired today. I have DP back though - as in he is present and ready to help with the house - he doesn't return to work until next Monday but I have lost him for about 4 days because of the interview prep & the actual interview itself.

He wants to do the picture wall today, first of all he is ringing child maintenance & the mortgage company (no sign of refund yet). The picture wall box is huge so I will be glad when that is tackled. I will go to the shops and see if I can get some more curtain hooks, I might also pop to the tip. I gave away all useable boxes and packing materials but I had lots of broken boxes that we used around pictures, or ones that broke as we opened them up. They were all well used though, some had been through 3 different people- you could see each person's writing on each one crossed out as to what the box held at each point  And many will go on to move no.4.

I am making the kids burgers and wedges for dinner. I fancy a dhal but I will do that tomorrow now. Won't be a NSD if I can find some curtain hooks, but if I can't it may well be.....

  • Today's become a bit of a write off. I've got a headache and needed to close my eyes it was that bad earlier. So I've spent at least an hour napping probably an hour before that trying, then just doom scrolling on my phone. I guess at least it's not as doomful on here (is that a word? It is now!) as it is on social media...at least I feel inspired on here and get some tips 🤣...
I've got dinner out the freezer, buns and burgers. My body is crying out for veg and fruit as we've lived on not very good food for weeks now trying to live cheaply. However I did promise 'treat' meals to the kids so will make it, and just put lots of salad on mine.

Not a NSD. I got sick and tired of seeing shoes everywhere. We have one cupboard but it doesn't hold very much. So I went into jy5k ...never really bought anything in there before but I noticed it was like a baby ik3a and it's local to me. Found a shoe cupboard which was more money than the ik3a one but I think it's better quality (we will see I guess)....so I coughed up and spent £65 on it. I've been searching on FB since moving in for one and not seen the bigger ones on there yet. Anyway it's done, I made it, it's attached to the wall and filled and we've no shoes or boots lying around anywhere.
DP is doing a tip run. And I'm just flaked on sofa not doing very much at all.

  • Right to try and make some headway into all the things on my list, I have decided to do my budget again. Something, I don't know what, went wrong with transfers of money across to my account and I cannot find my mistake on YNAB 😒🙄🙄😫 So I am giving up and starting again (take 4 or 5  ). Bills have already come out and shopping has already been bought in this month, but I am past caring right now so going forward I will do a budget for food for £125, per week, even though I have already overspent technically this month. And it doesn't take into account past spends (so the first 3 days of this month aren't on there including all bills already paid- so I snoozed those).

    Anyhow.......

Would you believe..................the mortgage company have messed up AGAIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

We were told, £945 due October the 1st. I went on my app to see what was what on there, it stated on there.......£660 due 1st September (this was the other day) so we have rung the mortgage company this morning panicking, asking what's going on as we were told we wouldn't have a DD due out until the 1st Oct and the app is saying we are wrong. Well apparently the app is wrong so not to worry too much...however on their systems we are due a bill of £707 next week 😡 no warning of this either.... All things considered with their ongoing mess up of overcharging on the fees we are brassic we used every penny of DP wages to cover that bill. All I kept back was bills money that we knew about. So I only budgeted £285 for the mortgage. It was going to go towards the inflated first payment NEXT month (945-660=285) so I was trying to foresee any big bills and help myself. Pfft. No chance. Thwarted at every turn, that's how it feels anyway.

So anyway, moving on, I had set aside money for- water, council tax, contact lenses, none of which are due till next month. Actually scrap that I still need to buy contact lenses for DD but I put aside £38 and I think online I can purchase for £22. so £16 towards this mortgage. Water, was £70 set aside which I can use. Council Tax I am still waiting on old address final bill..........£165 is in bills account for that. So basically I might have around £80 to go towards this mortgage payment. So I need another £342 thereabouts by the 9th I think for this bill. If the refund hasn't arrived by then then they will be whistling for it basically. We still have the maintenance money, DP tried to call them and they hung up on him just as it clicked through, an hour after being on hold?! So we are going to have to assume he needs to pay it for another year until his DD is 19? He's not received any post to say otherwise. Shame as we could have done with this money for the mortgage this month.

I am absolutely astounded at the t5b's incompetence to give us clear bills, clear instructions on when payment is due - the original letters we signed said Oct 1st, the app says Sept 1st, the man on the end of the phone says Sept 9th?! We've not even had a letter to say there is money due next week. So surely this can't be right?? Ugh. ANYWAY, I need to stop thinking about it and just get on with budgeting for it. I am seriously irked though.

When the refund comes through I will need to divvy it up as follows
    £1000 back to DP's M&D
£350 to bills account (thereabouts need to work it out exactly)
£400 back to birthday & Christmas fund
    £200 to EF
    £375 Food
£400 all other expenses (thereabouts again need to work this out properly)
=£2725 (we are due a bit more than this so hopefully spare if no more surprises).

Who'd have thought it would be so hard to port a mortgage from a big bank? I could sort of understand it from the smaller ones but I find this to be utterly ridiculous that one dept seems to not ever talk to another.
I have set up a DD for new energy supplier that will be due end of month.

Perhaps this time next month all will be righted but right now, I am tired, grumpy and fed up of surprise expenses.

DP has been busy hanging all the pictures we have, I have lots left with nowhere to put them, I may package back up and store or sell some/ give some away. Shoe rack looks great and my conservatory and porch are all clear for first time since moving in. I finally found somewhere for all the tupperware that was sitting around homeless so everything has a home, albeit it may get moved around ten more times till it's right, at least it is unpacked and away!

I feel like I have a bug, I am achy, exhausted, headachy and not feeling right. I don't think all the stress of the last few weeks has helped.

  • I am sure things will right themselves, perhaps getting on the phone each day will move things along? It sounds like the mortgage co is not well organised, it sounds they have a lot of useless people working there. I hope progress happens soon for you. HotdogX.
  • I would ring again and demand to speak to someone senior. Have a clear list of all the discrepancies, errors and payment dates and ask for them to give you correct details, put them in writing and put right all the mistakes. Good luck

Oh my goodness, that sounds awful and not surprised with the bank in question as always had not great experiences with them.  Reminds me that I have a dormant account with them that I need to close.  Hope you can manage to speak to sort it out because it's their fault for not communicating, well, anything.

  • So frustrating. Hope you gave some positive action from them soon. have they written to the old house maybe?

  • Morning all, thank you for popping by and being annoyed with me  I find it helpful in some bizarre camaraderie way as I felt so frustrated with it all! Anyway straight to the good news- We have received the refund this morning! 🥳 Can I get a collective sigh of relief.........🙌😀. Some money has already been sent to other places- back to bank of M&D with a thank you! And some back to pots that I borrowed from (totally cleared out), and I have to wait until tomorrow to do the rest, there is a £2k limit apparently. I have enough money now though to hopefully get through the month. Phew.............

Yesterday was a bit of a write off, DP & I both felt so ill. We went into town to just get away from boxes and mess and ended up raiding his business account to buy lunch and doughnuts  It was much needed and enjoyed though so we didn't even feel bad for it. We went home and crashed with full bellies for most of the afternoon, then I made some yummy rocky road and a delicious dhal which most of us enjoyed (DD had pigged out on bombay mix before dinner so didn't eat much 😒😏🙄). Then another early night came and I feel slightly better today thankfully. I am pretty sure stress is mostly to blame for this.....!

    SO today's jobs:
    • Tip run (car is filled already)
    • Find some contacts for next day delivery
    • Prep dinner
    • Have a quick tidy round garden & refill green bin as it's just been emptied this week.
    • REST - I must not overdo it again or else I just never get back to 100%

Oh and yesterday DP & I signed up to the library and got all four of us library cards. We borrowed some books to read- DP some novels and me some cook/ baking books. I already have a book on the go for bedtime.
Okay going to get off now and get on.....we are hoping for some good news on the job front......fingers crossed all, otherwise I will have a very unhappy DP later on!
