Also, before taking a nappy OFF a little boy, make sure the clean one is to hand. Some of them feel the fresh air, and they're up and away! Ceiling's good, mum's eye is better!Signature removed for peace of mind0 -
Don't forget if you decide to go with brand or boots own that you will get free delivery if you spend £40 on boots.com, then it will take hastle out of having to carry them home.
Talking of wipes- tried the Johnsons with moisturiser & found them really nice, huggies ok but don't feed out of the tub that came with it, so gave up with using tub!WW Gold Member, trying to maintain !!!Hayden born July 07Tabitha born April 05Poppy born July 030 -
My fourth baby has Club Foot and although I had used terries with my first three, this was not practical with number 4.
He had to wear a plaster cast on one leg, from birth till about 7 months. As it covered his foot and went right up to his groin, it was very important not to get it wet! Terry nappies are cute the way they go down to a newborn's knees, but it was clear that a really good disposable was called for.
I have found Morrisons own brand to be good and leak-proof. They are slightly more generously sized than the Huggies equivalent. Also, Morrisons have special offers on a regular basis so I wait for those to come round and then stock up! At the moment they are doing 3 packs for £10, so for the size I get at the moment that works out at about 9.8p per nappy. (For 'size 4' nappies)
I don't know if you have a Morrisons near you, though. My neighbour says that she has compared Pampers with Tesco nappies and finds that her baby seems more comfortable in the Tesco ones. She says that the waistband is a much better fit.
I don't think that there is anything wrong with the brand name nappies, except for the price. I suppose there's a premium to pay for the extra advertising, which you don't have to pay with the stores' own brands.
Superdrug ones are also good, if you wait for special offers, even better!
When your baby is born, you might be able to suggest swapping the odd nappy with other new mums rather than buying a whole pack, and comparing notes together. If you're buying in bulk maybe you could even split the cost with another mum. Postnatal classes, etc or an antenatal class reunion are a good way to meet other mums.
Your Bounty Bag that you will receive after the birth will have some samples and money off coupons, to help you in your research! Wilkinsons sell smaller packs of 24 Huggies, about half the size of usual packs, and these are good if you don't want to commit to a whole big pack. Don't be afraid to experiment.
(By the way, now my baby's out of plaster and only has to wear a brace at night, I have hauled out those fourth-hand terries! Little does he know. I still use Morrisons disposables at night though.)
Number 3 child still wears nappies at night and I find Asda Smart Price nappies totally adequate for her.
Hope some of this helps.
