mr._prude said:Has anyone got 1% cash back buyimg gift vouchers?I get 5% off at Tescos by buying perx gift vouchers.Depends where you buy them. If you bought them from a normal store, or through some services like Topcashback, then yes. Many specialist sites that just sell gift cards, like the discounted gift card portal that Complete Savings has, don't give cashback no.The same can be said for credit card fees too, you'll not be hit by them with the former, but the latter you will. It's all about what merchant category code they use. Even the Topcashback gift card site briefly caused everyone to get credit card fees last year because their provider changed it without telling them, fortunately they sorted it out and gave compensation to everyone affected.0

I opened my account before May 23. Got a year's worth of 1%, until the account anniversary (for me: 20th May). Then it became £500 a month pay in to get 1%.
Just noticed that the app is saying "Love cashback? See how to qualify each month to get it the next month, until 20 May 2024". This is shown when i go to the Rewards section on the "front page" and then click on "Monthly Cashback".
So it looks like it might be coming to an end, however that's no different to what I expected in May 2023...
As far as buying gift cards is concerned - do it at a supermarket checkout - everything goes through with a "Supermarkets" MCC.
Going off at a tangent - note that reporting of supermarket "cash withdrawals" with your shopping on a debit card gets handled by different banks in different ways, from experience: Halifax treats goods+cash as "goods". Natwest treats goods+cash as goods+cash. So if both banks offered 10% cashback, and you spent £5 on food and withdrew £50 cash, Halifax would pay you £5.50, and Natwest would pay you 50p.

I think the information in the latest MSE Weekly Money Tips is incorrect: the cashback deals run for 12 months, and when they end depends on when you opened the account. I'm currently on the 1% cashback so long as you pay in £500 a month deal, and the app is telling me that it runs until 11th May this year.
I checked this because I was surprised to read in the newsletter that the deal ended on 28th February, since I hadn't received any notification to that effect from Chase. So I think the MSE should correct the advice in the newsletter/on their web site.0
