NOW SOLVED Ipod touch setup - need password for Livebox router

  • I wish! My fiancee got an i-Phone a few months ago and couldn't connect to the Wanadoo Livebox, then, last weekend, I bought an i-Pod Touch. I had the same problem the 1st day but I persevered and the following day, by some miracle, I got a wi-fi connection. So, I tried my fiancee's i-Phone and her's worked too!

Unfortunately, my connection lasted a couple of days and then I lost it for no apparent reason. Since then, I've spent hours trying to reconnect my i-Pod to no avail. Nostro1's tip didn't help me I'm afraid. I have trawled through tens of websites for solutions and nothing seems to work! Please, can anyone help?

I have the new IPOD touch and a mini livebox - I have spent all day trying to get then to talk - even tried nostro 1's advice but still no luck - anyone got any ideas??

  • I followed the advice in thread #5 but it didn't quite work for me - though it did put me on the right track. Lots of time spent on orange technical support and I had to change to WAP security only in the same way as described. Changed to WEP only first and counldn't connect anything wirelessly.
  • Same here, followed topic 5 and nowt, then followed exactly the same method but chose WPA instead of WEP - and it worked, 3 laptops and IpodTouch all running off Livebox-6030.:j

After you have typed in your password/security key, hold down
the number one button next to the USB CONNECTION on your livebox, and press JOIN on your IPOD at the same time. Job done.

Thanks. Just got an iphone and have spent the past 24hours searching the net for a way to connect to wifi, and thanks to your post I'm now connected.
  • Thank you sooo much... spent all weekend trying to connect to Livebox, followed your instructions and Hey Presto, done in an instant

If the above does fail, I had 5 hours to try and get this working and failed, changing your Livebox to WEP only will allow the Ipod to connect, but appears to blow out any other PC, Laptop and WiFi Printer you have on the network.
Almost at the point of dispair I decided to look at the manual. (yes defeated and a man on the brink)
Try this if you were at the same point of thinking why did I buy this.
On your Ipod go to Settings > WiFi ignore your Livebox that is showing but not linking.
Select Other and set up the name exactly as your livebox was showing on the previous screen.
Then select Security and select WPA2
Then enter in your WEP password, but please make sure the letters are in Caps a real pain to press the shift, but it will be worth it.
Press the 1 button on your Livebox to set it into pairing mode.
Select join on your Ipod and voila you Ipod is transmitting on the same protcol as the rest of your network.
No other changes are required to your Livebox.
I hope to those of you who have almost given up, that this has offered some help and encouragment.
Once it is running it is a dream - so enjoy
  • Had a bit of trub with the previous solutions which resulted in me having to contact Orange customer support as I lost my connection. Surprisingly helpful and he told me how to log on my Ipod Touch 32GB 3rd Gen - type in the WEP key on the pod and then press 1 on the back of the router until the wireless indicator starts to flash - press enter on the pod and you should be sorted - tried it with my mates Iphone 3G and worked fine..
    Hope this helps someone!

Mate......your advice post might be a few years old, but is still relevant in 2011 and saved an old man some more grey hairs and has put a mega smile on my laddies face now he can access the web on his ipod touch. Cheers !!:j
