  • Well, I fought the urge to go buy more plants this weekend.

So, am pleased to not have spent any money over the weekend.

I did enjoy having a cup of tea in the garden in the sun.

It was also nice to walk the dog without being 🥶

  • Well done on spending no money.

    You’re doing great!

  • It’s been a while..

There has been plant shopping again. I mean.. how many plants do I need. Although I am now at the point where I am happy with the quantity I have.. I have about 30. This week I’ll be tackling the pesky fungus gnats.

I went caravanning for a week and my total spend was less than £10. To be fair, I bought 2 towels in oxfam as my dog got so wet, I was worried he’d get cold, that cost £1.98. Then we got the bus close to the caravan site for £2 and I paid £5.00 on car parking. I took my food with me and stopped at a site with no shop and nothing close.. so no temptation.

My CC has decided to up my limit if I call them… err no thanks and I’ve read the message on MSE re Barclay card.. I’ve set my minimum so this won’t affect me. But it annoys me that people won’t notice the impact plus I’m on interest free.

I’m doing well with my 1p challenge as I’m just short of £400 and hoping to keep at 100 a month if not achieve doing it twice.. we’ll see.

Next month is a 5 week food shop month so harder to budget but this month I seem to have ran out of everything so hopefully I can go back to being really tight and cut back a bit more again.

    I must not buy plants!!

@Couldsavemore - I've also noticed today that May will be a 5-week shopping month under our budgeting cycle, so bah to that!

A 5 week month really hits my 1p challenge fund, as I'm using my leftover grocery money.

I've had the heating turned off for a month now. At least it'll save me some money.

Am hoping to do outside jobs this month. Unbudgeted cash will ho here. This weekend will be weeding and repointing the patio. My life is so rock n roll.

I've started swimming outside again. This means I have to pay to swim in the local lake. Hopefully the river levels will drop soon so I can swim for free.

Bah to 5-week grocery months! May is one of them, although I have sneakily got round the issue by allocating our usual amount of grocery money for weeks 2 to 5, but managed to budget week 1 from our ring-fenced holiday expenses pot while we were away.
Yes, energy use should really be dropping now, so building up some credit will hopefully prevent nasty dd increases next winter.

  • So much has gone on but not too much at the same time.

Still paying off the debts.. now paid off 2875.. so chipping away steadily. I need to check how much I started off with. I now only have 11 payments left on my loan.

Still doing the 1p challenge. I've now got £536.60 in the jar.. so that is going well.

I've completed one of my marking contracts and the next one will start in a couple of days.. so spending money for my holiday is underway.
