  • Got an update on my car.
£1300 to get all the faults from the MOT repaired and the cautionary note on the rear brakes.

Not sure it’s worth it as the car is an 07 but then again I can’t afford a newer one and if I bought another old one then it’s probably getting sold due to needing repairs.

Needless to say.. I’m annoyed as it’ll wipe out my savings.

It's a horrible feeling seeing hard-earned savings wiped out by a car bill. I know that the more positive take on it is that at least you have the savings in place to cover it, but it is definitely a very understandable feeling of being 'back to square one'. We have a Car Maintenance Pot to cover emergency car bills, but it wouldn't be able to cover a bill that size.
    I'm just commiserating really.

I’m waiting to see if I get exam marking contracts. I usually get 2 contracts for GCSE marking. It’s boring and repetitive but easier to work around home life.

I’m working really hard to raise my son to be independent and able to live on his own. Sounds harsh but he needs a good push at times
I think that can be difficult at times when you don't see the world in the same way their brain does. I have a student daughter who has scored highly in  a pre-assessment for ADHD following several years of struggles and know how frustrating it can be.

That is rubbish about the car. Mine is 05 Reg and I'm aware I'll have to say bye at some point. Can you take advice from the garage/mechanics, is it otherwise a reliable car and worth the work or not? Maybe look at it as at least you have the money to repair annoying as this might be to wipe your savings out rather than adding more to debt.
  • I ended up putting the car bill on my credit card, as I transferred money from my savings but its hadn’t reached my current account. I did make sure that I paid it off the credit card the following morning.

So at least I am mobile again.

I hope you can get the help your daughter needs. My son is medicated at school to help with his impulsivity and focus. It’s much harder to spot ADHD in girls as there has been much less research. In fact I can’t find any.
Personally, I pay for private psychiatrist. This meant he got diagnosed and medicated in year 2. It would have taken years in CAMHS they are so over stretched.

  • Good news on the extra income front. Got offered my first marking contract for the GCSE exams..
Last year, I got 2 contracts and earned £850 after tax etc.
Fingers crossed they'll send me a second contract.
I will look into KS2 SAT'S marking tomorrow

  • After the excitement over the car.. things have settled back down.

I've accepted another marking contract. May and June will see me sat on the ipad busy marking. But it pays well.

Fingers crossed for a cheap march

  • The good news is I've spotted my first hedgehog of the year. The dog hates the hedgehogs.
The hedgehog is having some dog food right now.

The bad news.. I need to buy hedgehog food.

My dog hates hedgehogs too. I think he finds them confusing, not cats he can chase or dogs to bark at, or mice he pounces on and kills (mixed breed, 2 hunting dogs in him!) Instead they curl up and add insult to injury by looking like his favourite ball but he can't play with it either.

Well done on the marking contracts.
  • Another quiet week.
Bought my mam's mothers day present and then a few plants for myself.

I think I should try to propagate some plants.

I've taken my saddle to be sold in a tack shop. Would be nice to gey a couple of hundred dred for it but they sell on commission so fingers crossed. My horse passed a few years back and I have no intention to buying another.
