Hi! I’m in a very similar position to you. My plan is to drop my TLR at the end of this year - it’s just not worth the extra work. Then 2 years after that I’d like to go part-time. Hopefully at 55 I can retire from teaching although I don’t plan to take my pension until I’m 60, so that means 5 years at least doing something else, but it won’t be teaching.

I wish I could afford to retire at 55, I'm 52 this year and ready for it now! not a teacher though so I will have to keep going for at least another 15 years, by the time that happens my grandchildren will all have grown up!
    Hi

I'll still work but I've been teaching since the early nineties and just had enough. It's relentless and impossible to do everything you need to do in the working day so your just expected to work at home, on a weekend and in the holidays....

We're currently on OFSTED count down.. Next year it'll be constant fear of them calling and coming.

Could you change career? Or are there any steps you could take to bring forward retirement?

Hi.. I know what you mean.. I have TLR's. They are a double edged sword. I teach less so reduce that load but greatly increase stress in other ways.

We're winging up for OFSTEd next October.. Our head us desperate to get an outstanding..

I plan part time supply to survive financially or find a term time job.

I'm busy trying to pay down debts.

What's your plan to get out?

    Well another quiet week.

Having less in the weekly shop fund means less for the 1p challenge pot.. makes me feel like a failure.

I booked myself 3 caravan breaks.. Easter, whit week and 2 weeks to surf in Cornwall.. spent more than I wanted but have decided  to go beachside to make my life easier. Plus as a solo traveller we always get hit. But I'm looking forward to 2 weeks of silence.

Took the dog out gor a long walk.. and found 10 quid on the path in the wood.. no one around. So that's going in my 1p challenge pot.

So another spending week is done.

I had 12.35 to put into my 1p challenge and £5 to put in the emergency tin.

Off to yoga tonight which will be £10 out of my ‘pocket money’ but I need a stretch.

I’ve been watching quite a few decluttering videos and have attacked my desk at work, I need to do more decluttering in my house. So far I have removed 10 items each week this year. But will challenge myself to get rid of 20 items this weekend.

Also noticed how much less I have in my bins now I’m watching what I spend. I’m expecting amazon to do a welfare check soon.

Also its the horror for car MOT on Saturday morning.. my car is a teenager.. Last year I needed a new starting motor and 2 new tyres.

Hopefully, I’ll have some spare money to squirrel away.. depending on what wrong with it.

I’m not planning on working in school anymore. I’m hoping to just get a quiet, no stress, probably minimum wage job to be honest. Our children will have finished uni and the mortgage is paid so we will be able to survive on a much lower income.
