Watty's Awakening

When I first went on the internet properly I did visit some sites by people with underactive thyroid problems. What I discovered was quite interesting & years later my sister also discovered about anaemia. Particularly in America they prescribe higher doses than they do in the UK. Well actually expect your readings to be better than they do in the UK. My sister has absolutely no signs of anaemia in the UK but got altitude sickness caused by anaemia when in Peru. Apparantly we don't have high enough mountains in the UK.A fund of useless information here!6

I think I've said this before but if you get to wanting to move areas and are trying to choose which one, let the deciding factor be a GPs with good reviews who are taking on new patients.Watty1 said:As for blood tests, I did have thyroid checked and am going to email the results to the private doctor who prescribes my HRT I know I could get on the NHS but a male GP refused to prescribe because he did "not believe in it" I was so incensed I marched out, interviewed google and sought a private clinic that specialises. The surgery has since apologised to me for their behaviour, reviewed my prescription and said it was actually a vast improvement on the NHS options and if I could afford it to continue with the private one, but, if I wanted to save money, they would prescribe.
In the meantime I am incandescent with rage to read this. May the symptoms of the lack of all the medical treatments that will never affect him that he doesn't believe in be inflicted upon him until he learns the error of his nasty ways

This is bringing back memories of over 60 years ago when a friend, obviously heading for uni which back then was rare, was aged 16 told that her really bad period pains would disappear once she had a baby. 6 years later at 22 I went on the pill but only because I was engaged & nearly married as in date set, otherwise no.4

@PennysIntoPounds that actually is a very sensible suggestion. Based on our local surgery I cannot see why anyone would move here!
@badmemory really helpful about having a read on the internet about the connection between thyroid and anaemia. I don't know if it is a coincidence but I have just had an excellent nights sleep and I've been adding an iron supplement in for a few days.
To answer the HRT suggestion @KajiKita I think the doctor was trying to make me feel better about the fact I was paying for something that really should have been prescribed and he was astounded by the attitude that had driven me to a private clinic. However, my HRT is a cream that is blended by a specialist pharmacy based on a prescription devised on basis of blood test results. The one he looked at had a mix of oestrogen types and some testosterone which the NHS cannot prescribe for women apparently although he thought it could be helpful for some. Turned out hormonal issues were something he was really interested in - and - predictably he did not stay at the local surgery for long so never spoke to him again. When I pay for the prescription I do think about returning to NHS offerings, but, given how I'm feeling currently sticking with what works for now.

I remember the wrestling match Ladywithaplan described on her diary about getting prescribed testosterone and then the right kind of testosterone … I think I would stick with what you are doing too, sounds awesome! (And worth every penny. 😉)
I keep wondering about testosterone for me as well but just can’t face the bumbling incompetence and ignorance I’d have to deal with, plus the risk that some idiot might say ‘Oh you can’t have HRT any more’ at all, and I’d be left in an even worse state … Sigh …
Glad you had the good night’s sleep, whatever the cause 😊

My extremely fit sister was still on HRT at 70 although her doctor made her change to patches. Mine made me come off at 67, after which is when the arthritis started4

I didn't think they could 'make' you come off @badmemory
Lost an earlier post, have also begun dental restoration work. I have a lot of teeth that need work. I'm putting off the implant but the first chunk of work with an onlay began last week. 2 weeks time I go back for the final bit and to replace a broken filling.
Took WattyDog as the VNM drove me. My dentist is an hour away, so with over an hours work and an hour return trip we decided to take WattyDog as resting at home is much the same as resting in the car and he would not be disturbed by visitors/deliveries/cat.
We arrived early so decided to go for a coffee at the little stand in the woods nearby. Opened boot intending to sit with WattyDog and despite saying "wait" so we could get his ramp he "flew" out of the car and hurtled off across the clearing after "sniffs"
Sigh. WattyDog really has not go the concept of this resting malarkey. A neighbour thought he was walking better today, which is a miracle given the restricted movement has not really happened. I do adore his attitude though

Been out to DIY store to research furniture paints then came home and bought on line (would have bought in store but they didn't have what I wanted but using a browser extension saved 20% so worth doing that!).
Also bought glue online to repair the mats in Fell Pony Stable. All the stables have rubber matting glued on the floor which is supposed to save on bedding costs (ummm) but for some reason Fell Pony has been at work lifting two mats, and the knocking over his water bucket so they are so wet underneath.
The glue should arrive in 48 hours but I think that will mean next Thursday as it is a bank holiday. No idea when paint will arrive but all doors are off and VNM doing the prep work and has requested I "leave him to it".
So will spend 20 mins weeding front drive as weeds need clearing before I work out what best to do "there". The estate agent, whose list I am sticking with said it needed new stones across the whole area but I need something robust as on close inspection VNM's work van and the horsebox have broken up the slate chippings used previously to a kind of grit. Currently considering "black ice gravel" in the largest stone size possible.Made it to mortgage free but what a muddle that became

No, that would have been top of my list but someone I used to run with who found it did not wear well. Mind you that might have been poor technique. I went for the rust-olem in washable finish.dawnybabes said:Is it Frenchic paint you’ve ordered ? (My DS packs that at a weekend for a local company )
