I am hopeful for you that the counselling will help. Please don't be too hard on yourself. Blue Monday is less than two weeks away and we all feel a little bit deflated at this time of year. This is not to demean how you are feeling, but to offer hope that at least one or two onion layers can be removed relatively quickly xSave £12k in 2025 #2 I saved £14,660.97 of £6000 or 244.35% of my target. Hope you have the strength to make the session I think it will be beneficial for you. At least you can see if it is a good fit and not waste time if it is not. That is always harder to do over Zoom. Hope Most Handsome recover soon.Save £12k in 25 No 49

If actually getting to the session is too much, perhaps ring or have zoom call and get the conversation started. Is this a general need to hibernate or a sort of resistance showing up as a way of not having to cope with the next layer of things? If it's resistance it could mean the next layer is near enough to the surface to be done away with once it breaks cover, so to speak. Thank you, I do appreciate your support.
I went, thanks to lovely neighbour bringing in the horses for me and then texting me to let me know they were ok. And to VNM for driving. I am glad I decided to go to her, it is a long journey - 1.15 hours each way - but I know her, she already had a sense of the past and I feel that I do not have to start the relationship with a counsellor all over again. So whilst I do not want to go, I think it will help this time.
The weather was awful, so the journey home took a while and we decided on a takeaway rather than cook so stopped at the Indian that does a set meal for £29 That gave us both last nights dinner and a substantial lunch and then usually a few left overs as snacks. It is fantastic value.
The storm here is nothing but sleet and rain. Very dark. Using sunlight on desk to help.
Made it to mortgage free but what a muddle that became

It's great that you felt able to go - and a virtual approving nod from me to the VNM: having company can make all the difference.
I hope you continue to escape the worst of the storm. We are lucky up here to be missing all but some half-hearted rain.
P.S. Perhaps the takeaway could become part of the counselling day routine? It sounds really nice.I think a bit of sunshine is good for frugal living. (Cranky40)

The takeaway could indeed become part of the routine. That is a lovely suggestion. Thank you.
Bleak old day here mood and weather wise but bright spots because it is important to focus on them I think are that I had a lovely walk with WattyDog. I thought he was flagging so turned for home but actually he was trying to head to the lake for a swim. He does make me laugh. I firmly said no swimming because (a) his bad back and (b) it is freezing here although the lake has defrosted.
Second bright spot and more MSE - some of you might remember the extended palaver to get network power to sort out the money and pay without a cheque from last year. Well, today £131.45 dropped into my bank account as this years payment. (I expected to have to prove I still lived in the cottage to get this each year, but, no, they just paid). Hurrah!
