We had fireworks again last night 🙄 It must be people new to the village as we haven't had them the previous two years, and people who have been here longer say we don't usually have them.5

I completely get the thing about anxiety caused by being out of the house too long, and I think it's a good thing to give yourself a break - achieving all you do takes energy and you need recovery time rather than stretching too far. There will be other chances to do something like this and in the meantime you've saved yourself stress and money, you've had the time at home and perhaps got some rest - four good things in exchange for one stressor.I think a bit of sunshine is good for frugal living. Yes although at New Year he usually stands on the yard with me and watches as they are not that close and quickly over.ajmoney said:@Watty1 is anyone local likely to set fireworks off around New Year? If so would you be able to trial any ear bonnets then in advance of Bonfire night next year?Made it to mortgage free but what a muddle that became

A local hotel across the fields lets off fireworks throughout the year and the great thing is that this has allowed the horses to get used to them.Slinky said:Interesting about the classic music on the speakers. Could you play the 1812 overture starting at low volume and working up?
The problem is the unexpected explosions so close. Still we survived this year. Who knows what next year will bring.Made it to mortgage free but what a muddle that became

Did a little bit of work then took Charming Cob out. Absolutely had to laugh, a car went past us very appropriately then three vans came in the opposite direction so heading straight at us. Charming Cob took this moment to object to where we were going and caused all 4 vehicles to stop whilst he - danced and spun in the road. He is of considerable chunkiness so this is not particularly an elegant dance and spin
. Finally a got him under control and off the 3 vans went. The car however was still parked a a lady was getting out. She came to see if I was ok - she was clearly very horsey - and burst out laughing when I said the real problem was the miniature goats. According to CC these are just below pig in the must avoid stakes.
I have not been asked if I was ok and needed a hand for many years. It made me smile
(CC has a miniature goat neighbour so this is all very silly indeed). Made it to mortgage free but what a muddle that became

He sounds a right character.Could the horses go on holiday for firework night ? Halloween is huge round here and my barky stressed dog stays over at doggy daycare as it’s too distressing for him and has done after the first one and he was so traumatised by it all.Sealed pot challenge 822

I've thought about that @dawnybabes but being in the South East very few places are genuinely quiet. A friend used to offer her place out for fireworks as they never had any - but - then 5 new builds popped up and she has them too now - and interestingly despite only being 6 new houses they don't all club together and do them once but have 3 separate evenings spread over what is fireworks season. A neighbour sent her horse away only to discover a massive display took place just down the road from where she sent him.
Its all part of the bigger picture, this area is just really busy now with lots of cars and people and houses and with that comes all the celebrations on different nights. VNM has taken to wandering about muttering "townies" which makes me laugh as he was one until a very little while ago.Made it to mortgage free but what a muddle that became

Nice evening with friend, haven't seen her since July as her dog cannot be left alone and she considers WattyDog too boisterous (which to be fair he probably is). She is an excellent cook and did a lovely roast lamb with veggies followed by a slice of homemade cake. Another day not sugar free especially as we shared a bottle of wine (not driving) so not alcohol free. However have done enough sugar free and alcohol free to prove to self I feel so much better without either that I'm going to stay mainly free of both.
Not sure what today will bring - but I must clear and sort the fridge and sort a food list.
