Thank you @KeepOnKnitting .
I can see an improvement in the garden but alas, it always has the upper hand! Having resigned myself to using weedkiller, though, I hope that if I work hard on the affected areas, it's a chance to make something of it. I'm resigned to losing the things that are growing artistically through the path.
I'm not one for rows of plants or neat gardens, but it won't hurt it to have a clear out and make that the start of something new. The things I planted thirty years ago can be divided up and moved around and once I'm sure I have some without ground elder, I'll pass some on.
It's been a good day, as you say.Work went okay (I finally got to bleach some whiteboards that weren't in use in the classroom area: I've wanted the opportunity since I started) and the tikka was okay though too much chilli for me and too much lime for DH. There are six portions cooling to go in the freezer. The rain held off till dusk, but now it will help settle the places in the grass where there were plantains.
I'm struggling to decide if I can do the work courses outside of work hours... it won't be tonight but I'll check my work emails anyway and get that job out of the way.
Nothing spent today.I think a bit of sunshine is good for frugal living. (Cranky40)

Exhausted. It's just been a busy day at the end of a busy week. I had a bit of a tidy up at home before going to do the church cleaning, but knew I had to be back with enough time to take down the ironing board, straighten the cushions and eat some lunch. I had a few useful conversations while at church, including with the person who used to manage the debt advice centre. She and I have been friends since our children were at primary school (we're grandparents now) and she seems enthusiastic about me possibly helping with the centre.
I got some shopping on the way home but was totally unsuccessful in getting the white chocolate hot choc that my friend likes. I saw it was £4.50 in Sainsbury and last time I bought it, it was on offer and nowhere near as much, so I looked elsewhere but totally failed to find it cheaper anywhere and the little sachets are nowhere to be seen. Saved myself nearly a fiver there, I suppose. I'll keep a look out for the offer returning but perhaps it's not the season for it.
Back home, I only had ten minutes despite my best efforts so I hared round gulping down overnight oats and tidying and my friend kindly arrived a few minutes later than expected. She got cola to drink. We only had an hour and a half but it was a really good catchup. She's still in touch with someone we both worked with who I've lost touch with, so she's going to try to arrange a meet-up, and told me another former colleague has visited someone else from the past who is doing well (a relief to me, as last I heard, this person was relatively not in such a good place).
I had to go at four and found I was working in the same rooms as yesterday. There wasn't much to do yesterday, and the same today so I did things like cleaning windows and doors once the basic jobs were done. By the time I left and got home, I didn't have much oomph left.
Aside from groceries, I've bought the latest G@rdener's W0rld magazine with the May offers. It's now £9.50! I think I remember it being £6.50, but that must have been a while ago. Realistically, I won't use all the seeds from it so I've offered some to family and had a look to see if there are any gardens in the area we're visiting next week where we could use the 2 for 1 offer (there aren't). I also got a gift token for DD's birthday - she loves TKM axx so it will give her the extra pleasure of choosing for herself.
Meals: I finished the Moroccan style lamb and DH had more of the chickpeas.
DH has just brought the washing in for me: the constantly ominous sky didn't shed a drop and it's been the first tee shirt day of the year too. Half past eight and there's still a glimmer of light to the north.
Expenditure:
Gift £20
Entertainment £9.50
Housekeeping £14.98 (L!dl is doing my favourite hot choc about £1 less than elsewhere and I got a few store cupboard items too).
ETA: Duolingo has given me another three days of premium... I'll try to make the most of it, though it would have been perfect timing... next week when I don't have a lot to do!

£9.50 for a magazine that’s extortionate 😲 I love my magazines but have them on subscription and endeavour to get a decent deal when the year is up so end up paying a fraction of the cover price.I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)1

I signed up for 3 issues for £5 (must remember to cancel) just for that issue, but it hadn't actually turned up! £9.50 is ridiculous.

I used to get a mag on a cheaper subscription & none of the offers came with it. They didn't make it clear or I wouldn't have bothered.

Mine finally arrived today (no county or postcode, even though they are on the order) and it came with two packs of seed.My mortgage free diary: https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/6498069/whoops-here-comes-the-cheese

I didn't think they could deliver anything without a postcode these days. Although if they are relying on satnav even the postcode won't get them to me or even my street.
