I'm trying to work out whether that's useful or nerve-wracking. Possibly both, this lot seem perfectly at ease all that way up in the air and the job is progressing at speed.
I think a bit of sunshine is good for frugal living. (Cranky40)

The roofing has gone at a cracking pace - the old roof is dismantled and the felting and lathes are down for the new one. They reckon they should finish tomorrow, though it may be Sunday.
I decided that decaff filter coffee wasn't the thing to give builders (that's what was to hand this morning) so I went for some instant and some chocolate biscuits, but, would you believe it, they turned down two offers of more coffee!
In the afternoon I did some baking - @Watty1 's sugar free cake. I think I made it too moist so next time I will be more liberal with the polenta, but it's come out the most beautiful colour as well as contributing generously to my fruit and veg intake. So thanks Watty. 😊It's one I will make again.
Work was two and a half hours and DH cooked me some Southern Fried chicken when I got home. I've also collected a parcel: I bought a jigsaw and some fuzzy felt on V1nted for the granddaughters but I've yet to open it.
We owed DS1 for some cinema tickets so I've just sent the money across, but while doing so, knocked my hot chocolate over the carpet. This is immediately after discovering we need to replace our carpet shampooer, so we may be buying one in a bit of a hurry tomorrow. An expensive week, with the roof, then potentially a carpet cleaner, tickets for next week and finally, looking into a new cooker as the door on this one has developed a tendency to fall off.

So glad you enjoyed the cake but ouch to the high spends needed just to keep going
Made it to mortgage free but what a muddle that became
In the event the proverbial hits the fan then co-habitees are better stashing their cash than being mortgage free !!2 -

When I had my solar fitted I offered tea & coffee. Refused & they seemed to be drinking just water. Minid you the one who was moving around on the roof may have been on something stronger & I don't mean alcohol. I did comment to the others & they just said Oh he's an idiot but he's good at his job. I did wonder if they had been warned not to accept drinks from strangers.

Spendy events seem to come in bunches, don't they?! But I've also discovered the joys of buttering the cake… mmm! 😊So that was a nice lunch. 😊
Isn't it just! I enjoyed trying it out this evening!
Our lot didn't want coffee this morning - I wonder why? 😁 Then DH could only find decaff tea and after that, they didn't want tea, either. 😁
I never thought of anyone trying to dope their builders… let's hope it never happens, especially working at height! 😲

So I am a little less pleased with the roofing today as they don't appear to have fixed a single slate in place yet. So much for possibly finishing today. All the slates are nicely lined up on the roof, they are doing a different job tomorrow and will be back here on Monday.
We went to the car boot sale in the morning but neither of us bought anything, unless you count £1.40 for a Chelsea bun DH bought at a bakery nearby. He was shocked at the price.
I was head-achey and paracetamol didn't shift it, but I worked out I was probably dehydrated so I've gradually set it right over the day (and the headache is gone).
After lunch I worked on the hot chocolate stains and thankfully I think I've got them all out. We then went on to do various bits of cleaning once the builders had gone (early afternoon!). The house feels nicer for it - but I've never worked out how some marks get to the obscure places they do. I think some areas could do with being decorated again to to brighten them up, but I don't think we have the energy at the moment.
We had invited J and L and the baby over and they were going to a little boy's party first so we decided to get fish and chips, as they certainly wouldn't have had that at the party. Plans to see them last week had fallen through as J was quite ill with flu and is signed off till Tuesday, though she's on the mend now. Little A is healthy again but poor L still sounds rough as he's been looking after both the others and must be exhausted. Anyway, we had a chat, a short walk and F&C. J is learning French on Rosetta Stone and I'm learning on Duolingo, so we have been comparing notes.
I've started to look into carpet cleaners and I'm not finding the combined vacuum cleaner/shampooer type that we've been used to. I suppose things have moved on. I'd be interested to hear what other people have bought and what your experience of them is.

I’ve got a 🦈 one and it’s brilliant. It’s not a combined one but boy does it do a great job. The hair it picks up 😱 Quite a few of us on here have got one.
I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping) -.literally have been run over by a bike, mobility scooter and a car - still here 💪3 -

I’ve only got a stair and landing carpet but it gets cleaned regularly thanks to 2 cats, a dog and and Mr SA’s incontinence. I’ve just cleaned it now and this is what it picked up. Look at the colour of the water and all that hair/fluff 😮 It also has a dry function so ready to walk on straight away. Downside is it’s quite heavy and also awkward on stairs. I bought a smaller version for quick clean ups and stairs.
