Katiehound - it is Portmerion Botanical Garden which I treated myself to when I had a new kitchen so unlikely to find in a charity shop. A seconds plate will do.

I see if you go on the PM seconds site a discount code pops up for first purchase- but there may be a minimum spendBeing polite and pleasant doesn't cost anything!

@Florenceem , there are also 'china finder' sites. I can't particularly speak from experience but various companies (and online auction sites) stock out of production pieces. I have to keep away from them as I collect a particular old Denby and I don't have space, but it's worth looking. Sadly, plates seem to be the things people break most, so can be harder to get. Of course the company's own site, as @Katiehound says, is first port of call.I think a bit of sunshine is good for frugal living. (Cranky40)

I bought two pairs of pants to replace the worn out ones I threw away but when they arrived, I wasn't completely happy with them. Even though I could really do with them now, I sent them back . Otherwise, 70 quid would've been wasted because I wasn't 100 percent about the fit, material etc. For me its about focussing on intentional buying, that I only buy what I need and that I'm completely happy with it in order to get the most use out of it. Hopefully I will l find some that I know I will like for a long timeCurrent debt approximately 5000
Goal- Zero debt by mid 2025

For example Trainers will need replacing at least twice in a year as we walk so much (2,300 miles in 2023) but that in turn saves a fortune in petrol so is it an essential or OK to spend on ?
- replacing shoes that work but are tatty?
- new top for going out as I've changed size, when I have clothes that fit but aren't dressy?
- compost for growing veg which is is a healthy and fulfilling pastime but is more expensive than buying veg from the supermarket?
- activities with friends who aren't keen on no spend activities?Activities with friends who aren't keen on no spend activities? That's a tough one... At the end of the day you work hard, save hard and try to have little impact on what you buy and use. Your entitled to a day out or a drink every so often. It's good to have experiences sitting at home and watching pennies can make you feel a scrooge.
There are some deals around for cheap lunches for 2- must buy drinks, Meercat movies- Bogof, Weatherspoons refillable drinks, buy fish & chips at lunch time etc. I like a bargain anyway so it was no hardship and my friends weren't flush with loads of money.
I think you need to build little 'treats' into your life. Mine was probably going to a particular charity shop & buying 3 p/b for £1. I went there yesterday & treated myself.... and donated to a worthwhile charity too. Win win
The worst thing is to say to yourself 'No, I can't afford it!' Make it a positive statement: 'I am saving for....a happy life, no more junk, my retirement... whatever

@Cherryfudge yes, other pressies!
For those in London and I'm sure elsewhere some galleries etc are free or have a time when they are. I went to the photographers gallery which is free on a Friday 5-8.
My aim is for no spend on things I can manage without and especially have an alternative already. For clothes I was going to check if theres still the fashion on a ration thread which would limit purchases and focus on replacements.
Look forward to reading how everyone is getting on.
Went to the shops and only bought food for tea and extra veggies/ fruit at the market.8
