Stock Market Predictions 2024

Hello all,

Does anyone want to make some predictions on what will happen in 2024? I know it's a fool's errand but just a bit of fun really! We can come back in a year and see if anyone was right!

How will the following markets do?

  1. Global
  2. USA
  3. UK
  4. Emerging markets (India, China, Mexico)

  • No predictions but I did just watch this video by Ramin of Pensioncraft which covers this subject and is worth a watch for some for educational value.

I wonder if anyone is going to predict an 80% crash this year...

I doubt it, considering that there has never been an 80% drop in the stock market in a year in its history.

Although, from memory I think that there was someone on here predicting that it would drop by that amount around a year ago.
  • China takes/attempts to take Taiwan as the U.S. is distracted choosing between two numpties in an election, at a time when armaments and munition stock piles are low as a result of sustained assistance to Ukraine and Isreal. Obviously this would not be pretty for markets.

No. Predicting the unpredictable just makes you look silly when something you couldnt predict happens and it goes the other way.

I would say it will either be up or down.

I reckon there will be a roaring boom for 5 years. The roaring 20s they'll call it. Not sure what'll happen after that

Your money may go "down and up and down and up and down and up and down ... down and up and down and up and down and up and down ... I got all tricked up and came up to this thing, lookin' so fire hot, a twenty out of ten..."

In 2024, entire economies will start to change due to the success of weight loss drugs, there will be winners like airlines (skinnier passengers use less fuel). I am sure others can suggest other winners :)

    Interest rates start to fall...

People sell MMF and pile back into equity

    Equity rises.

Ditto for the gilts maturing in early 2025. (The last of the 5%+ gilts)...

Financially the world is now highly interlinked. Purely from a UK perspective returns may well be determined more by currency movements rather than by actual domestic economy performances.
