Have stuck with my routine of getting up cleaning teeth, washing, moisturising and tidying up hair. Clean underwear and good to go.
I've decluttered the en-suite now. I've been a member of no buying unnecessary toiletries thread for a while. Not because I'm well groomed like so many over there but simply because I just had so much stuff. A lot had been gifted or sent to me to try ages ago when for a short 6 months I wrote a review column for a magazine. Just being on that thread has helped me use stuff up, donate it or try it, admit I hate it and throw it. The final throw away was a hair brush this morning that I never used and with that and moving one small bag of stuff to the bathroom the room was done.
I've one wardrobe to whizz through and then I'm done in the bedroom too. I don't think there is much in that wardrobe as it was the one the ex used and my boyfriend now uses when he stays over but I will go through it and then 2 rooms can be done. Both desperately need renovation but if there is less junk in there it is a start.
Made it to mortgage free but what a muddle that became

@helensbiggestfan Please be kind to yourself - you are worth it. You are clearly getting the compliments of how lovely your silver hair is looking and is suits you. Embrace your new self.
It is so hard for us to be kind to ourselves it should never be frowned upon either - your younger self would be saying just that.
Had a long shower and descaled myself - how something so simple can make a difference especially through winter when skin is kept under wraps.

Good Morning lovely ladies.Well all I can say is "Woe is me". I feel awful. Blistering headaches, nausea, stomach cramps, feeling dizzy, flu symptoms, insomnia, exhaustion, itchy skin. It's Day 3 of zero caffeine and I am just a wreck.I thought I was being clever, that by scaling down my caffeine intake over the last three weeks I would escape the worst of any withdrawal symptoms. No such luck or maybe easing off gently has helped and I would have been far worse if I had gone cold Turkey. All I can say is that having such a strong reaction to quitting caffeine must mean that I was extremely dependent on the stuff. I have heard it said that it's more addictive that heroin, 😱 and I have been drinking coffee for over 60 years. It is a good job I cleared my diary and that I am no longer working. There's no way I could drag myself to work in this state.Oh well, just keep going.......one thing for sure. If I can succeed then I'm never going back. I'm not putting myself through this again.
Watty......you are doing well, making good progress with your routines. You may feel that you are just doing the basics but i think if you get those right and they become established habits then they become second nature and you do them without thinking, once that happens you can then start adding the little extra flourishes. I've been working on my basic routines too, especially skin care. My face was looking refreshed and rejuvenated. I think cutting sugar made a big difference but today my skin feels really dehydrated and itchy again, and I'm very pale and drawn looking. Hopefully it's just a temporary blip.Artisteslifestyle........well done on taming the paperwork monster. It will be a good job well done.Scratters.....Thanks. I don't feel very "worth it" today. Lol. But you're right, I mustn't be too hard on myself. I think many of us are, aren't we. We say things to ourselves that we wouldn't dream of saying to our friends or loved ones. We would praise them for their efforts and would encourage and support them, build up their self esteem and confidence. So why we don't we do the same to ourselves. 🤷♀️I have to keep reminding myself on how far I've come, how much I've achieved. I do listen to motivational videos and podcasts to keep myself on track. But, as I've said before, I am not the most patient of people and I can't help but feeling frustrated at my (perceived) slow progress.Went to chiro yesterday. It was pure torture, probably because of the state I'm in. I think I need to slip in a couple of extra sessions so I pre paid for a block of 6 treatments, saving myself £24.Every little helps. It's a grey miserable day and heavy rain is forecast. Fortunately I don't have to go out because I did a bit of a stock up yesterday. I too am on a mission to have a couple of use up months and save some money.Going to just potter about, cook something nice and have a bit of a sofa day. Watch a nice film, read etc, just ride out the rough stuff. As my husband used to say "there's nothing spoiling". The decluttering and deep cleaning can wait. My diary is clear until 3rd Feb......surely I will be recovered by then.Have a lovely day and excuse my whinging......5 -
Wow, are you sure its just the caffeine withdrawal making you feel like that? When I gave up caffeine, I had nothing like that. Dr told me i should give it up doe to my heart condition and I went out and bought decaff coffee and all was fine. Mind you , I only used to have about 3 cups a day, and never drunk cola or anything else like that with caffeine in. Worth checking you don't have an allergic reaction to something else, it does sound odd.

MB2. Thanks.I don't know. I can't think of anything I have done differently, not changed my diet, not taking any medications. I googled caffeine withdrawal and everything fits. I guess I'm just unlucky.3

Hope you feel better soon @helensbiggestfan - sounds awful 😞1

@helensbiggestfan if the symptoms don't pass after 4 days please do check with your doctor.
Routine in place and gardener here to trim hedges and plant up some areas. I might be tight for money but there is no point letting jobs get out of control as that will cause me so much stress and cost more in the long run.Made it to mortgage free but what a muddle that became

Watty, Sukeyboo........thanks for your concern.Pleased to be able to report I feel sooooo much better today. Wahoo. 💃 Had a good sleep, headache has lifted and I feel fine, still feel a bit delicate but generally tons better. Just goes to show the effects that caffeine can have on some people.I have done quite a bit of reading up and it does seem that some people have a greater sensitivity to caffeine than others. I think that's why some people seem to find their withdrawal symptoms are more severe.Anyway the worst is over. I have heard that you can experience occasional cravings during the recovery period (a bit like nicotine withdrawal, when ex smokers experience sudden and random cravings). However, having got this far I don't think I will be tempted to go back.A big thank you to you all for your support and encouragement. Whilst I never once countenanced giving up I have to confess I found it very difficult and just kept wishing for it to be over.At the risk of sounding horribly smug I am actually feeling rather pleased with myself. I have managed to give up both sugar and caffeine within a period of just 3 months. I have tried several times in the past and failed. Finally I've done it. Hopefully I will reap the health benefits.
Going to give myself a few days grace and then it's on to the next challenge.......
Lose 10lbs by Easter. 🤞
Lovely sunny day here. 🌞
I noticed the tulips I planted are peeking through. Spring is definitely on its way. The lawns seem to have carried on growing all winter and the back lawn in particular could do with cutting. And the outside windows are filthy, as is my car. I need to get my act together. Like you say Watty, it's best to keep on top of these things.2 -
Oh, I'm glad you feel better today, I was just going to say that it might be a virus. The worst must be over by now as you have cleared the caffeine out of your system, hopefully. Drink lots of water.
I am too feeling woe is me today as I have had some tooth sensitivity the past few days and when I bit down on my dinner last night I think my filling has come loose. I have a dentist appointment booked for tomorrow. I have been to the dentist twice this year already for a checkup and tooth cleaning! Oh well.
I did go and get some highlights done yesterday so at least I feel a bit better hair wise. I was talking to my hairdresser about HRT as she said she had to come off the patches as they were making her feel depressed. She said she thought it was the progesterone. She did go privately instead and is on a different medication and feels okay. I haven't really noticed much difference on being HRT apart from the night sweats I was getting occasionally are less often. It hasn't been a month yet, though.
It is nicer with the weather not being so horrible and cold. I have the windows open and I'm about to have a bubble bath and do the laundry and wash my bed covers. I want to use my treadmill and start another book today.

Day 5 Caffeine Free. Slept for 8 hours straight. Wahoo. 💃. Feels fantastic. I think giving up caffeine might just prove one of my better life decisions. Ha ha.Wednesday . Hope you get your dental issues sorted soon.Re the HRT. I really do think it's trial and error. We all have different physiologies so I think it's horses for courses. I have stopped the combi patch because the progesterone was causing abdominal cramping. I might try again once I am completely clear from any residual caffeine that might be lurking around. If it still upsets me then I will go to a specialist menopause clinic rather than my current gynae. She is very nice, very thorough but I think her speciality is obstetrics/gynaecology rather than menopause. For now I am just using ovestin. Seems to be suiting me. I tried Gina but that didn't really cut the mustard. One of the reasons I wanted to quit caffeine is that it can cause a sensitive bladder, something I have suffered from for some time now, never wanting to stray too far from a public lavatory when out and about. It will be interesting to see how things go, so far I think I can see a slight improvement. Sorry if that's tmi but I think we are all grown up women and should be able to discuss these matters. I am not giving medical advice therefore I am not contravening MSE guidelines, I am just sharing my experiences with you.I apologise if my frankness about gynaecological matters and menopause shocks and offends but I take the view that we can all learn from each other. I am happy to share my experiences and any knowledge I have acquired. If just one person gains something from me sharing my experiences then all to the good.I shall be entertaining this weekend, cooking special treats and no doubt quaffing some prosecco 😂. One last hurrah before I knuckle down to losing some weight. Skin is looking better today. Aiming to give myself a facial either today or tomorrow.Onwards and upwards. 💕8
