Well 2025 hasn't gotten off to a good start - OH's mum sadly passed away at the start of the week and he's currently ill with pneumonia, now out of hospital with antibiotics but needing a lot of support.  Thankfully I have the ability to work from home so will do that for at least the next couple of days.

Money wise I have no idea where we are, will try and make some time to sort out my accounts and YNAB.

So sorry for your loss and the added worry of your OH being so ill, Such a lot to deal with at once.
Hope OH recovers soon and try to take care of yourself too.

  • What others have said plus I’d suggest leaving the finances until things are better. You have an emergency fund, work with that until things are less fraught and try to look after yourself.

Thanks all.  OH was re-admitted to hospital at the start of the week, still there with a potential discharge date of tomorrow.  Was going to be today but he had a set back this afternoon so they want to monitor him overnight.  So we will see what tomorrow brings!

    Getting there INOD

Unfortunately OH had a few more set backs but did get discharged the middle of last week with an increase in medication, he's doing ok but needing a bit more support than he would normally.  Trying not to hover over him too much but it's hard not to.  His mum's funeral got cancelled due to the storm so will be next week instead.

Money wise I've transferred some cash out of savings to tide us over until payday and will just start with a clean slate then as I really don't have the energy to try and work everything out.

  • Emergencies don’t come much bigger than you’re dealing with right now. The money will get sorted eventually. Try to take care of you.

    Thanks INOD.

Last 2 days have been NSDs which have been much needed.  Today won't be though as we need washing powder, toilet rolls and cleaning supplies as well as some food shopping.  Coffee as well - I'm currently drinking the last cup   Have got an opticians appointment later on this morning and it's only a 5 minute walk from there to a shop that sells really good coffee beans so think I will walk up afterwards and treat myself.
