Hi All
Quick update on me. You may remember that I had a stomach ulcer bleed, back in May? When they did the gastroscopy (June), they found the ulcer on a small lump in my stomach. Took biopsies. They followed it up in August with a CT. Nothing sinister; everything “meh”.
Finally saw a consultant gastroenterologist in December, who promptly did another battery of blood tests, a second gastroscopy with biopsies, an MRI and another CT scan. He phoned me on Thursday having looked at those biopsies, and told me that he was referring me to Haematology and I’d get a call for an appointment ASAP.
Saw the consultant haematologist yesterday. I have high grade non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma and need 6 rounds of chemotherapy, on a 3 week cycle. I should make a full recovery. Only thing delaying treatment is that they want to do a PET scan, to identify the location of all the cancer cells. That needs to be done first, before the “crime scene” is contaminated by the drugs. (DH was with me, so knows what is going on.)
I’m not really surprised, after the last couple of months, when I was getting sicker with nothing to hang it on. I’m OK, just want to get it all over-and-done-with.
- Pip
PS: I’ve told all the family, both DH’s in the UK and mine in Australia. DH’s best mate will tell the Clan, when he speaks to them on Sunday. Also told multiple friends, work, etc. That was harder than facing the diagnosis.

Cherryfudge said:flamingo747 said:@thriftmonster I started part way through the year last year with 15 coupons, spent 14, 12 of which were knickers! Some things you just can't go second hand lol.
Does anyone have a recommendation for 'brief' pattern for those of us who have saved an old tee shirt or ten to try making underwear? Please?

Wow @PipneyJane, that's a lot to take on board, though I'm very thankful the prognosis is so positive. {{Big hugs}}I think a bit of sunshine is good for frugal living. (Cranky40)

Oh @PipneyJane I'm so sorry to hear your news. Am I right I'm thinking NHL is one of the very treatable cancers? Not that that makes things any better though. I hope the chemo dates come through quickly and that you make a full and speedy recovery 🤗🤗🤗Live the good life where you have been planted.

Oh gosh - what a shock. Good that they’ve identified it, and that the prognosis is so positive - but not the news you wanted to start the year with. Thanks for letting us know, and please keep us updated.Although we’ve never met this is such a friendly thread, I hope that the virtual support here will help to keep your spirits up.
