OMG! I’ve spent some coupons!
While swatching for my next project, an Aran sweater, I started to wonder if I’d have enough yarn for it, Caithness Yarns DK Sedge. I have 6 skeins, and I’ve always planned to do an Aran jumper with it. After downloading two versions of the pattern and doing the maths multiple times re the yardage quoted for my size, I bit the bullet and ordered two more skeins from their website. That’ll give me 8, or 1640m. If that is too much, I’ll make the matching beret with it. (Yes, I know the pattern is written for worsted-weight/aran-weight yarn, but the Sedge is very dense and swatched up well.)
ETA that’s 4 coupons spent.
In other news, I get my PICC line out today. Did I tell you about the results of April’s PET scan? All tumour gone, with just a couple of non-reactive spots left on my liver, that will have been mopped up by now. I’ve officially finished chemo and am in remission. My first follow-up appointment with the doctors is on 2nd July. (Don’t break out the HM cowslip wine. I don’t know yet if I’m allowed to drink!)

oh @PipneyJane that is wonderful news!! How brilliant! I hope the two of you have some time together to celebrate and to let go of some of the tension xx
and it is very much something that could not have happened in 1942, no matter how good the Much Mending on the Borrow cottage hospital is!
I still find it incredible that malignancies can be treated to the point of a complete remission amounting to a cure… such wonderful progress in detection and treatment… and of course in 1942, our cottage hospital wasn’t on the NHS, as that was Attlee’s post-war Labour govt, after the wartime National Government was voted out. I know there was much opposition to bringing in the NHS but looking at your wonderful treatment results and as the relieved wife of Mr E whose cancer was equally successfully treated… well HURRAH FOR OUR NHS, say I!!!!2025 remaining: 37 coupons from 66:

Thanks everyone.
@Laura_Elsewhere I am definitely voting for Mr Atlee. I believe in the NHS. There are changes I would make if I were God for the Day, but they would relieve some of the administrative burden and increase staff retention. (Immediate £5k payrise for all staff, for example.) Coincidentally, the ward I was on when I was really sick is named for Nye Bevan.

Such good news Pip!
Creeps in to confess having blown all her coupons for the year. At least it feels like that. Actually when I add it up it's 64 coupons but I smugly predicted back in February that I wouldn't need anything until summer. And summer doesn't start until 1 June!
I'm not even sure how I managed to fritter so much. I did buy two pairs of Skechers because my feet hurt so much and 6 of them were wasted on a pair of M&S jeans which are just not comfortable in wear. They are the same style as another pair which I do find comfortable and they seemed ok when I first tried them on but they pull across the top of the thighs and slip down and even wearing a belt to hoick them up doesn't help much. So charity shop it is but it's gallingIt doesn't matter if you are a glass half full or half empty sort of person. Keep it topped up! Cheers!10 -
Excellent news for you @PipneyJane!I read Graeme's articles in the Knitter, (via PressReader) - I did look at his 5ply cones when I was toying with knitting a Gansey, but decided I had more than enough yarn, (though, clearly, that reticence didn't last long).Fashion on the Ration 2025 37/666

Brilliant news, @PipneyJane! So happy for you!
I've lost the plot again and somehow missed 60-something posts whilst helping to sort out DS1's lovely Welsh garden, then going flat out preparing for an event last weekend. I suspect I need to add a pair of trainers to my coupon total; my old "smart" Skechers are very much no longer smart and I did need something a) comfortable and b) reasonably presentable, so I invested in another pair the same. The old pair are now demoted to allotment duties. I'm having a massive chuck-out of old footwear etc. as I found a box of shoes under the bed that haven't been worn for years, and are never likely to be again; most of them may be smart but they're not at all comfortable. They'll need a clean-up before I can take them to the charity shops although some would probably qualify for my "vintage" stall! Off now to try to catch up with everyone's news...
ETA: 5 coupons duly added. Seems I do have some wiggle room for the rest of the year!Angie - GC Aug25: £106.61/£550 : 2025 Fashion on the Ration Challenge: 26/68: (Money's just a substitute for time & talent...)5
