Hi all,
@PipneyJane love that hat. I rarely wear hats but I do love them
On the subject of capsule wardrobes I am afraid I am a total fail. I rarely have to dress smart, even when I was working clothes had to be comfortable, practical and hard wearing and now I am retired I have even less reason to wear smart clothes. I like lots of colours that usually go together reasonably well, though I have a couple of multi coloured jumpers that I have to wear a white t shirt with to avoid a clash and my winter wardrobe is just my summer wardrobe with a thick jumper and thicker socks. I wear trousers of varying weight depending on the weather or capri pants or shorts if it is very hot but the same short sleeved t shirts are worn all year round. I think I am lucky as I am comfortable with what I wear and have no great yearning to look any other way. What I wear I think suits my too heavy body shape, I used to try other styles when I was younger but it never felt like me, though I could probably do with a smart jacket so far I have managed without. I rarely wear a dress and only own 2, both very old but very well made Italian things that I got when I lived in Kuwait 40 years ago. I do probably, (definitely), have too many clothes but having sorted out my wardrobe and sent anything that doesn't fit properly off to the charity shop and learned how to fold my t shirts so they fit in the draw I don't stress about finding something to wear anymore. I will gradually wear things out and maybe move from the going out draw to the gardening/ decorating draw and a few things from there will move to the rag bag eventually
. The things I think I will need this year will be underwear and maybe some walking boots if I can find some that are comfortable
I also have a spend to declare, a t shirt bought for a friend's birthday so 4 coupons spent leaving me with 85.5
Take care everyone5 -
@PipneyJane, I also love that hat
. Just like @Liverpool_Anne I rarely wear hats but this is because my head is big, I would love to be able to wear the style that you are wearing but I have to be happy with beanies.

2025 Frugal challenge5 -
@PipneyJane that hat is fabulous. I do wish wearing hats was still "a thing"Made it to mortgage free but what a muddle that became
In the event the proverbial hits the fan then co-habitees are better stashing their cash than being mortgage free !!5 -
I love that hat, and little shops that have been there forever.
Earlier this week I tipped out my sewing box and checked for gaps in supplies - my daughter made some serious inroads in her teenage years. I did an online order from a haberdashery including some ‘old stock’ thread that turns out to be from a Coats mill I used to live near. No idea why cotton yarn was spun in a woollen area.
Both my well-dressed grandmothers sewed for a living. One started as an invisible mender and later made shirts for Double2 Shirts. I’m sure some of the thread in my box came from there, via her work box. The other had a sewing corner at home and made her own clothes, and some of ours as children but also wedding dresses for brides in her village, and the costumes for amateur operatic societies. So hers was more of a hobby business.
This week I’ve mended a bra and I’m just sorting out some pulls on a merino sweater. We’ve managed to book a holiday and I’m wondering if it would be mad to take a small knitting project!Fashion on the Ration
