That's a clever pattern, @PipneyJane. I imagine it will be good insulation too.I think a bit of sunshine is good for frugal living. (Cranky40)
The sun's been out and I think I’m solar powered (Onebrokelady)

Hi all,
@PipneyJane so sorry to hear the news about OH's job, hugs but glad to see you are knitting again. That pattern looks lovely and your photo of knitting 2 sleeves at the same time has blown my mind. I am going to have to try that just to see if I can do it
. I love the colour, one of my favourite colours
Currently I am doing a cowl and matching fingerless mits using your pattern for the mits as a gift for friend's dil to be who is always cold
. The yarn is a swirl of pinky colours and I started with a mit then decided to do the cowl so got into a bit of bother with the way the colours on the swirl worked through and had to undo some of the mit to incorporate a colour change to match the cowl. It didn't help that there was a knot in the yarn that changed the colour suddenly
. Anyway I think I have sorted it though I did have to rewind the yarn to get to the right colour at the end of the swirl. Probably totally the wrong yarn for small items but it was the right colour as she likes pink and I had it sitting there left over from a shawl I had done a while ago. The yarn looked great in the shawl so another lesson learned
. I have finished my last blanket and the sideways knitted scarf in an attempt to use up odd bits of yarn. I will post some pics when I get onto my phone
On the subject of Dorothy Sayers I couldn't remember reading any of her books so I had to hunt some down. I must admit to prefering Ngaio Marsh, I have all her books. I remember finding the first book in the library and had to go out and buy the rest as they didn't have them in the library but I binge read them all
. When I look through my books I can see I have done that several times with various authors but some I will be passing on to the cs as I know I won't read them again. The authors I am currently stalking are Estelle Ryan and M J Lee having got both first books free on my kindle

@Liverpool_Anne that blanket is huge! Also, how many stitches did you cast on for the scarf? Clever of you to do it lengthwise and make the ends into its fringe.

I really like the scarf, Liverpool_Anne. Having the stripes vertical instead of horizontal makes it far more interesting.
I have three spends to declare. The first two are a dress and a T-shirt. So 12 coupons spent. The third one is one of those oversized Oodie fleeces (only mine is a copy) which I picked up for £8. As its oversized, and its long, too (30 inches) are people happy for me to treat it like a dress coupon wise - ie, 7 coupons?Sealed Pot Challenge no 035.
Fashion on the Ration - 27.5/66 ( 5 - shoes, 1.5 - bra, 11.5 - 2 pairs of shoes and another bra, 5- t-shirt, 1.5 yet another bra!) 3 coupons swimming costume.8 -

If I add things up correctly, that means you’ve now spent 24 coupons.

Hi all,
@PipneyJane yes the blanket is large. I made it for me to use when I am slobbing on the couch and don't want to put the heating on
. It is very cosy being a close stitch and I just used any old bits of yarn I had lurking in bags that I thought wouldn't be used for anything else and a few odd balls picked up from the cs
. For the scarf I cast on 360 stitches based on a swatch I did, of 30 stitches giving me 6 inches. What I would say though is if I did another I would cast on less as the finished scarf did stretch lengthwise and was quite long, luckily the lady it was a gift for is quite tall so by the time she has wrapped it around a couple of times it is ok
. It was very easy though just knit stitch on all rows on 100cm circular back and forth and tied the ends every 2 rows to make the fringe. Again I just used odd balls of yarn from the cs. I divided the yarn into neutrals, grey, beige, white etc and colours and just alternated randomly. I was quite pleased with the way it looked and will probably do another one to continue with the odd yarn use up and because it was so easy, absolutely no concentration required

I do love your scarf @Liverpool_Anne; I have knitted a couple for my OH, (from free purlsoho patterns), because they use up my extensive stash. My flannelette has been dyed; the colour took really well. A piece of my vintage pattern has a large section torn off, so I need to recreate it. Am thinking of lining the dressing gown, and was VERY GOOD, and sat on my hands when the latest fabric sale was on.Inspired by the recent talk on vests I have cast on for one (R0wan's Fyne - another free pattern at some point) - it's in DK so hopefully won't take too long.I must get to grips with creating a footnote to keep track of points as I will start to forget.Fashion on the Ration 2025 37/665

@alicef you go to the signature section of your profile, that’s where we add the footnotes.
Glad to hear the colour took really well on the flannelette. Care to share a photo?

I ran upstairs to take a photo @PipneyJane!I'm hoping I might be able to save some of the blanket stitch edge with the tie. The torn pattern piece is the front section so it should be simple to recreate by flipping the back section and tracing the missing bit.Fashion on the Ration 2025 37/668
