Lovely to see you @Pippajane
I'm just off to the church for a gossip with the ladies there. Will pop £3.50 into the pot for tea and home made cake and return the borrowed evening dresses from last year (I went to an event and managed to borrow dresses rather than buy). So grateful i have a friend who let me raid her and her daughter's wardrobe.Made it to mortgage free but what a muddle that became
In the event the proverbial hits the fan then co-habitees are better stashing their cash than being mortgage free !!10 -
Hi all, lovely to see you Pip, we miss you although Laura is doing a sterling job
. I hope things are as good as they can be with you. Lots of rest and tlc in the future, hugs. I also love the infinite monkey cage, always entertaining.
No spends to declare though I have nearly finished my latest blanket and am itching to try the scarf but 1 project at a time is my current moto to keep me on track
Hugs to everyone who would like one
Take care everyone7 -
Good to see you @PipneyJane! You sounded very spritely for five in the morning, but maybe the dream about fabric did that? Perhaps it was your subconscious trying to ensure Mr PJ is well dressed?
I hope he and the dog didn't get too muddy?
I've never heard The Infinite Monkey Cage but it sounds as though we should tune the wireless in next time it's on. Mind you, I'm nowhere near making a jacket out of anything and my task for this weekend is to get the hang of frequency tables (which I doubt were even a 'thing' when I was a lass).
Looking forward to seeing you again next time you're able to pop in.I think a bit of sunshine is good for frugal living. (Cranky40)

Lovely to see you, @PipneyJane! Thanks for the cuppa. Laura's done a sterling effort in holding the fort until you are back to full power. Hope you're not feeling too yucky and Mr PJ is looking after you. 😊
Not sure if it was Pip or Laura who mentioned 'running' a sock heel to strengthen it, but Messrs Goggle and Utube don't appear to understand what I mean when I did a search on it, as they came up with running socks(whatever they are 😉).
All this came about because I was watching catch up with Matt Baker's Christmas Travels with his parents. They were at Dove Cottage and they read a bit from Dorothy Wordsworth's diary from Christmas Eve. She wrote that she was running a sock! But it just went over their heads as though they didn't understand what it meant.
Please tell me it's not all in my imagination! 😄2025 Fashion on the ration

It's so much easier than darning after the place has worn thin- but you're right, it's not really remembered nowadays.

Afternoon everyone. Good to see you Pipney Jane. Hope the chemo isn't too wearing but it sounds as if Mr PJ is looking after you.
Spends to report. I thought I might have majorly overspent my coupons on a prorata basis as it's only January but I don't think I need anything else until summer so I should be OK Spend to date 20 coupons
2 thermal vests 3 coupons each. Ouch to the coupon cost but they were definitely needed during the cold snap
1 jumper (Uniqlo sale) 5 coupons
1 jersey skirt 7 coupons
1 scarf 2 coupons
Adds up quickly doesn't it? I also bought a belt but I think that's coupon free?It doesn't matter if you are a glass half full or half empty sort of person. Keep it topped up! Cheers!8 -

@Laura_Elsewhere beat me to the y-tube video. 🤣
But while looking I came across posts showing how to knit double thicknesses to protect the heel - which I as a very basic knitter, think looks complicated. I then came across this post which I think will be what I do when I get round to making a pair of socks.

I'd never heard of 'running a sock' before but it makes so much sense @MrsCD, thank you for that.Aiming for a Champagne Lifestyle on a Lemonade Budget

Also bought 200 grams of yarn knit my granddaughter a cardigan.- 2 ounces of wool knitting yarn equals 50g of any knitting yarn containing natural fibres. Note: according to a display I once saw at the Imperial War Museum, there was a different coupon cost for man-made fibre, but I've never found out what so let's assume acrylic is half the coupon cost of wool, i.e. 100g acrylic equals 1 coupon.
