Spent the majority of yesterday falling asleep. Collected the youngest from college early as they weren't well again. So other than falling asleep I put the washing out, trip to the dentist, sm shop and made 12 jars of marmalade. Making another batch tonight.
Grateful for
1. Falling asleep on comfy furniture
2. No work needed done on my teeth 🎉
3. Batch 1 done.
Love 🐞

Country living has its advantages and disadvantages @Thrifty_Taylor! I remember when we lived waaaay out in the middle of nowhere, there was much kindness and keeping an eye out for the well-being of others, as per your DS1 having a lift back from the airport. However, I well remember the pongy-jackets at social events! It is what it is, I suppose
Glad you are enjoying your new windscreen!

Hope you are feeling better today, @Starlight_at_Sea, you have a lot on your plate by the sounds of it. Thank you for your advice on accepting the care package - it's something we hope we can arrange as I think providing 24 hour care for step-mum would probably put my brother and I in hospital!
We had to make a decision about step-mum's car recently too. It was the last car she and my Dad owned, and Dad loved it! However it needed work done and was very expensive to run, so sadly after some investigation our only option was to scrap it. I confess to shedding a few tears as it was taken away on a trailer.
Good luck with your admin! x

Insole appointment went well. They're supposed to last 12 months, I've killed these in 3. So have been upgrade to the strongest ones and in case they're too stiff and hurt (my toenails are pressing against the upper slightly) I have been given a second pair like the ones I've just worn out.. The podiatrist suggested that if the new ones feel too uncomfortable, I should try wearing them for an hour and then switch back to the softer ones, gradually increasing the time with the strong ones. I'm going to put the medium insoles in my unworn trainers (identical to the ones I have but in a lighter colour) and choose which to wear on any given day.
My back was aching by the time I reached the entrance door to the infirmary but whether it was the insoles or whether I'd reached my limit, I don't know (I'd put ibuprofen gel on my knees but not my back). I was going to come home on the bus but the wind whistling round the building made me opt for another taxi (probably going to use a taxi tomorrow as that hospital is 8 miles away and I need to be there early).
Sat on the couch, made and ate prawn coleslaw with rocket (finished both off as a second meal), pegged out dresses that were in the washer (will bring some of them in so I have clean dry clothes for tomorrow's appointment) and then limped back upstairs. I went back down much later on and did more bin bags (and the pizza box pile that DS3 had finally collected for me. Food order arrived very early.
Many many hugs and best wishes for all who are poorly or supporting others (many apologies for not keeping up with individual challenges and difficult times, my brain's a bit fuzzy.
I'm struggling with all the things that need doing and yesterday I dumped all the bulky bedding in the bath (no water). It all needs washing or sponging (some can't be washed and won't fit in the machine) so will catch no harm but no-one can have a bath or shower until it's out again (we'd all had showers/ baths before I dumped them). It means I can get at the floor more easily and I want to put the new mattress cover on. packed away the jigsaw I started but kept the patches I'd done intact..
Does anyone have any brilliant ideas for February's thread (the alternative is me). I'm planning a gentle thread - we need to get on with things but it's the end of winter, most of our energy levels are depleted (not f0xh0les, she's the energiser bunny on speed) so we need to find ways to progress but keep listening to our body. (otherwise we'll spend the next 3 months trying to get back on track)
Grateful for all NHS staff and facilities, home deliveries (absolutely essential over the past 3 months), libraries, books and all forms of entertainment, toilet rolls hankies and tissues and family and friends who support us and cheer us up.14 -

Hugs and best wishes to everyone, Lots of turtles having a difficult time out there but we're here for you.
Probably spent more in Aldi today than I ever have but all in a good cause. Spent this afternoon cooking and then got a phone call to see a surgeon on Tuesday. A bit scary but a bit of a relief as well as it probably means they are going ahead and, at least. I know where I am. Yet another doctor and yet another hospital. Bit difficult to get to but we'll manage.
So a bit of a positive day, xxxxHave adventures. laugh a lot and always be kind.11 -
@Flying_By sorry to hear about your step mum. Having been there with my mum, do sort out a care package. You really can't do it all on your own.I was annoyed to discover I had completely forgotten about a delivery due today. I am normally pretty well organised, but obviously not at the moment! Had to reschedule but will now need to wait till next Thursday. I had thought it was to be tomorrow. My head is all over the place at the moment! A trivial thing, but it seemed like the end of the world when I found outAlongside my brother's issues, my niece, who is the same age as my youngest daughter, has been diagnosed with breast cancer
She is the nicest person, works in a primary school and has two young children. Life seems so unfair. She is due to undergo a mastectomy in early February. Praying that they can cure it!
