It appears there are a lot of people who plan their stoppage to coincide with the end / start of the financial year  :D
Handy in that my last day in the office is 4th apr but as I’m paid up to 27th may, I should eventually get a chunk of tax back. Only slight residual worry (and it small, I can ride it out) is that I have to dip into SIPP and ISA just when the orange menace is throwing a wasps nest into the markets. I’ve got plenty of buffer and it’s only three years until the DB saves the worry.

Smart move. I’m also one of those people that has a romantic attachment to “years” and quite often find myself saying, I’ll get to 25 years and that will be an achievement. On reflecting on it recently I realised how ridiculous that was!!

The govt forced my hand, they insisted we move to UC from WTC a year ago and you get 12 months transitional protection
    I think....

One more week down, about five to go. Can. Not. Wait. Finding it surprisingly stressful even though I know I’m out of here soon. Beautiful day out side, I’d love to get on my bike and cycle somewhere….
Soon as I left, just as lockdown ended, I headed off on this little adventure: a great way to clear the head!

    Highly recommended!
    (sorry I couldn’t shrink the picture 😳)
Amazing! I’ve got a gravel bike with nice low gearing. Only just got into cycling, I’ve done a few gravel events (75-100km) so fairly fit. I do plan on some bike packing fun (using B&Bs , not camping. I’m not an animal) not sure I’m ready for this but will see how I go.

OH made some like-minded friends through Facebook during the pandemic and now regularly cycles to the coast, east or west via the scenic route is about 100 miles. Then ‘Spoons and come home on the train.

I’ll be getting a train to the Kent/Sussex coast and visiting various fish & chip shops. Train back. Network Rail card for the win.

Two couples in particular that we know well are going to have to work for a good few years, potentially past SPA and it can be a bit difficult at dinner parties. Both the couples in question have been through divorces and are actually both just hopeless with money, but I still feel awkward.
People focus on the money they ‘lose’ in a divorce. What really happens is that A & B divorce and split their capital 50/50, and so do C & D. If A & D then get together and so do B & C, each brings their 50% to the relationship, so the only ‘loss’ is the transactional one of the legal process. Wildly generalising of course, but it sounds like your friends may be in that position.

I’m of the same mind. I did plenty of camping when I was young and skint.

I had a fabulous week walking the Snowdonia Slate Trail last summer with my youngest boy. He wanted to camp but a) I didn’t want to carry a tent and b) I like a comfortable bed after a full days walking.

I’m sure you’ll love the freedom to just get on your bike and go whenever the weather’s good. I cycle or walk somewhere pretty much every decent day.
