I did have a good trip but came down with a sore throat and chesty cold right on the final travel day so my plans for my 1st week back home got disrupted. Only just getting over it now but at least I didn't have to feel bad about having time off sick from work!

why would you feel bad about having sick time off work? 🤔

Leveraging the income tax by adding unsheltered investment to max out the SIPP from 50 odd helped get my FIRE plan sorted

When working I rarely took sick leave but, on the occasions when I did, I always felt bad about it and often went in when not 100%

sick leave has been rare but with permanent wfh I feel it’s something I can never take.

I didn't take any at all after WFH started.

1 or 2 of my colleagues (both permanent WFH) used to take sick days when they had a cold…..
I get that when someone works in an office and to prevent spread, but its a nonsense when WFH, as if they can't get to a screen and type. No wonder some businesses are pushing back on it.
I finished end of March. Haven't once regretted it. Already losing track of the days and weekends are generally a "no-go" to busy places. Normally would have felt the need to not waste the opportunity over example bank holidays such as this one just gone and its amazing weather. But this time we stayed well clear of all the masses descending on every nice place.

The longest I went without sick leave was 10 years, I didn’t even have a cold in that time. I’ve also had years where I have had five or six colds and triggered the bradford score.
However, the worst was when I had bowel cancer and I had 57 days off sick, that was mainly because it was open surgery and at first I wasn’t able to even sit for more than a couple of hours.

I worked from home for 20 years - if I was properly sick then I took leave. If it was just a cold then I worked as there was no one to infect.

I would have had to take at least a couple of days last week. My coughing was really chesty and deep and I would have needed to be in site. However, normally, a cold wouldn't have stopped me working.
