Fantastic news! So good to see a few of the regulars achieving the dream recently. Enjoy (You have earned it.)michaels said:Oh yes. Today was the first day of the rest of my life. Last few weeks have put a bit of a damper on things, if I were an SWR absolutist then my annual income would now be 5k less than when I handed in my notice.
Still I was able to wash two of the cars, 3 dad taxi trips and change the immersion today so making the most of my new found freedom.Think first of your goal, then make it happen!1 -

We should probably ask for this thread to be renamed the retirees lounge.
I’ve never been as on top of the garden in spring as I am now, although the weather has helped as well. Still a bit early this far north to put out tender plants.6 -
I am still planning that bold leap but have taken a step further. Reduced to 3 days a week from SeptemberMoonwolf said:We should probably ask for this thread to be renamed the retirees lounge.

My last day at work was yesterday and the feeling of freedom when I woke up this morning was priceless.I’m taking a break from work for a few months and then will look for part time or contract work in the autumn.I’ve got lots planned, some of it spendy (holidays) but most of it free or low cost (prioritising my health, sorting my house and garden). What a privilege.19

Bon chance, I always get a lift when others declare they have shed the shackles of employment and gained financial independance. For most it's literally a lifetme's work.mrs_slapshot said:My last day at work was yesterday and the feeling of freedom when I woke up this morning was priceless.I’m taking a break from work for a few months and then will look for part time or contract work in the autumn.I’ve got lots planned, some of it spendy (holidays) but most of it free or low cost (prioritising my health, sorting my house and garden). What a privilege.
Take a break, make a few lists of things it'd be good to do. After a few months see if you need a bit more order and routine in your life. Congrats again, you should get a load more of those priceless mornings.3 -
I too finished yesterday! Cracking farewell last night. Off on holiday on Monday and I guess it will really sink in when we get back and the new normal starts.15

Well played sir/madam. And the best thing about the new normal is that there is no more Groundhog Day. Every day is now an adventure rather than a chore.arthur_fowler said:I too finished yesterday! one of the simple feel good factors of retirement , is siting on a plane , car , train on the return journey from that first holiday after retirement , realising that you dont have to return to work on your return . its pricelessarthur_fowler said:I too finished yesterday! Sundays are no longer spoilt by thinking of work. The next day and ironing my shirts.HillsideRetired said:
