Bold leap into retirement

…also, plenty of headroom in my savings to bridge the three years until DB day and can a,ways start it a little earlier. I’m annoyed but sanguine, I figure I’m 40% up through tax relief on the way in so trying to keep some perspective. Actually going to do some decorating prep today but planning to nip down to the coast later in the week.3

I'm about 14 weeks into retirement. I'm still getting up around 5.30am. That is a bit of a lie in though, as that's the time I used to start work .pterri said:

I actually don’t mind getting up early, I love to potter around rather than stumble around trying to find a pair of socks before heading to the station and stressing about the work emails I’ve yet to open. Lovleyeastcorkram said:

I think I am still adjusting, as it feels like I am still on a 2 week staycation at home at the moment.Personal Responsibility - Sad but True

I’ve been getting up between 7:15 and 7:30 to get to the gym for 8. That is an extra hour in bed and the gym is so quiet then, all the workers have left and the parents haven’t got in yet. Haven’t had to queue for anything. Later but still early enough to not eat into the day proper.eastcorkram said:

Lovley day in London so cycled to Richmond park, did a couple of laps and a nice leisurely Coffee at The Dynamo (try it if you’re a cyclist, you can park your bike inside and cycle racks just outside so quiet secure). Perfect

Congrats to those who have joined The Unemployables 😎
Hasn’t the weather been generous! Best time of year to step away, I feel (now 4 years in & still loving it, despite market turmoil and stock shrinkage…)Plan for tomorrow, enjoy today!4 -
Lovely weather, and we have begun by going out on daily walks, although strangely we keep ending up in beer gardens. What an amazing start for our new adventure 😊.
Having not previously been a poster on 'socials' I have embraced Insta as a way of sharing our life fortune 🤭 (especially with some of my closer ex-colleagues who wanted to leep in touch), who I feel really enjoy the pictures of me attending my new Monday morning stand up in the local cafe, and my snaps of our afternoon pints 😁
If it hadn't been for Putin's love poodle, and feeling the need to revisit / re-asses plans (just in case), it all would have been perfect.Personal Responsibility - Sad but True

Oh yes. Today was the first day of the rest of my life. Last few weeks have put a bit of a damper on things, if I were an SWR absolutist then my annual income would now be 5k less than when I handed in my notice.
Still I was able to wash two of the cars, 3 dad taxi trips and change the immersion today so making the most of my new found freedom.I think....9 -
