Office Pro Plus is only available with volume licensing.
I assume you bought it from one of those semi-legitimate key sellers, and since then the license holder has identified that your computer is not part of its network and has flagged it to Microsoft for deactivation.

No it is not one of those semi-legitimate sellers - it was bought from a company linked to my work - it is a cheap way of obtaining a full office installation !
I have had office pro plus installs since about 2003
and it is activated - my issue is with 365 being included and taking over

If I was half as smart as I think I am - I'd be twice as smart as I REALLY am.

If it was under the home use scheme then they may have pulled out of it, our company did.

Microsoft really are driving people to LibreOffice....
Not really. LibreOffice numbers were static for years, the jumped in the pandemic when people suddenly couldn't use their work PC's but have dropped back down.

If you only want to use the basic features then just use the free online version of Microsoft Office 365. This usage has increased as LibreOffice has dropped as people have realised they can get better for free.

To the OP, you will probably need to remove 2016 and make sure 2019 is associated with your Microsoft Account if you want to do a local install of 2019, but why not just use online 365?

But I don't want to get all of my 30 years of files on to an online storage that expires after 12 months
    I prefer a local storage (c:drive)

I was happy to pay these people £20 for Office 2016.
I found Office 2019 unsuitable and uninstalled it. My One Note files could not be read by 2019 because the file format is now only suited for cloud storage.

Just use OneDrive and it keeps it all on both (cloud and hard drive) with the right settings and the basic level doesn't expire after 12 months and will give plenty of storage for documents. Its all free.

You can store your files on your computer with Office 365.  There is no need to use cloud storage unless you want to.  Office 365 is installed on your computer too.  The only online requirement is to check the license is valid and that only happens every so often.

We are talking about the free online version at www.office.com, not an Office 365 subscription which gives you the local install ability.

My installs of Office 20xx last forever - they don't expire
Why should Office 365 ever expire ?
