Hello fellow declutterers, sorry I have been missing again but RL has just taken over our lives. Dad finally came out of hospital and has had physiotherapy at home. He has been signed off now by the PT as he's not going to get much better and argued with her if he didn't want to do something 🙄. According to her he should only go outside if he's supervised, which hasn't gone down well with him. He is still sometimes dragging his left leg and his left hand doesn't always grip things. His field of vision isn't great and neither are his cognitive skills. He also thinks he can drive again so we've put it in the hands of the DVLA as we don't think he's safe. We are doing what we can to help him but he's also fighting us all the way.
This week I tracked down a smell to the fridge in Dad's kitchen, some milk had gone off but he wanted to drink it rather than tip it away, no chance and I quickly threw it out 🤢 Also gone from his cupboard was a bottle of curry sauce which he tried to give to us (BBD 2016) and had been opened 😯 Goodness knows how he's got to the ripe old age of nearly 95 ! DH said most of the contents of Dad's cupboards should be in a museum 🤣 I also binned 2 pairs of disgusting slippers as I had bought him some new ones.
Yesterday at chez nous I binned a pair of my own slippers, I'd gone through the toes ( replaced by the new ones I bought before going into hospital) and also one of DH's sunday socks. In the recycling today is a diffuser bottle and the sticks binned. I managed to pass on 6 books to DD, some unread, to help her in her new " mystery book " venture along with several coloured rolls of crepe paper from my craft stash.
DH and I sorted out our chest freezer this morning and I'm afraid I threw several items out, don't even know how long they have been in there let alone what they were. I hate food waste but best to be safe rather than sorry. I did find some trout fillets so they were eaten for tea with a jacket potato and green beans.
This afternoon I have re-cluttered the DGC's 3 hamsters for a week while DD and family go on holiday, they're no bother they just need to be fed and watered. I do talk to DGS's hamster who is a bit of a bruiser while DGD's 2 are so tiny and skittish and don't stand still long enough for a conversation 😂.
Hope everyone is well and the house hunting is fruitful. Hugs to the poorly ones and anyone struggling at present.
nanFailure is simply the opportunity to begin again, but this time more intelligently13 -
Helloooo! Treatment decluttered for another month. Normally I have it late afternoon, sleep, bathroom, sleep more, up for a couple of hours on a Sat, sleep……up for longer on a Sunday…
this time I had it later on Friday and the sleep didn’t really happen cos of the heat 🤨😭😭😭😭 so I am very tired but at least I’m cooler now and slept most of the afternoon after watching “murder she wrote”.
Hubby has been brilliant but the dogs not so much. They do not like being parted from me but as they kept pinching the cooler spots on the bed, barking at imaginary foes and generally peeing me off they have been locked in the kitchen with a very firm NO.
im such a mean mum! 🤣🤣⭐️⭐️⭐️🥇🥇🥇 2024 decluttering

Thanks for comments , you can see why we're taking so long to sort my dad's house. The little chinoiserie pot has come home and the garlic press cleaner in case it fits my garlic press. The others were never meant to be kept but thought I'd post in response to Mrs Sd and quite like Google lens. Apparently the wooden scissors are part of a 1930s game sizzabola. I did take a cs bag with flasks, crockery and far more practical things. 2 boxes for the next tip run which DB will do and hoping some big things will be picked up!

Mainly little bits of tidying, housework and some admin today. I seem to be getting so much more done whilst OH is away, and the place is staying much cleaner.Decluttering Awards: 🏅🏅13

I'm sure those 2 things aren't connected at all

This afternoon I couldn't help but overhear an interesting conversation between my next-door neighbour and a friend of hers, who were sitting out in her garden (NN is a sun worshipper) while I was watering my pots.
The visitor said, "Have I told you about my professional organiser? He's done a marvellous job of rearranging things in my house so that they are much easier to find. I said I wanted to keep all the books, but he said that wasn't a problem, he'd just put up some longer shelves."
That particular professional organiser is clearly not schooled in the art of decluttering first! I definitely will not be employing him to help me12 -

@vulpix - Does the Family Bible have family information in it (especially between the Old and New Testaments)? There are several archives and libraries that collect the information from Family Bibles over here even without the Bible itself. When we had Bibles donated to our FamilySearch Center, we would copy the pages, plus the title page and date page (if there is one), and turn them in to the Archives covering that area of the country or the Daughters of the American Revolution library (collect all Family Bible records no matter the time period) plus the Family History Library in Salt Lake City. The local archives where your family lived might like a copy and the Society of Genealogists in London might also. The Family History Library in Salt Lake would also like a copy.11
