Madbat, what a time you have had recently, no wonder January seems never ending for you. I think your positivity has stood you in good stead. It would be all too easy to be dragged down. I think now is the time to give yourself some well deserved tlc.xxxx
Dizycap and 2 scratters, well done both of you.
Weenancy, I was thinking about Bella too. You did the very best for her,a feather in your cap. It does sound like you are getting somewhere with the house and at last you have had some help with the garden. Will citrus and olive trees be suitable in your climate? Could those young people do some heavy lifting in the house too?
dND, I think your de cluttering method for paperwork is excellent and can be applied to all de cluttering. Just start with the obvious rubbish first them whittle it down in subsequent passes. Fingers crossed that the house purchase happens soon.
Mrs SD you are on fire at the moment as is Mr SD with the sorting, cleaning and mending. I imagine your young leeks will be sweet and tastier than shop bought. Something that I have been thinking for a while now, Mr SD's pet worms are pampered! The best looked after worms in London. I expect they are massive and glowing with health.
We are off on our little holiday tomorrow. The weather forecast is still gales but better than it can be.
Take care all

Freezer badly frosted up so had to move the food and defrosted it yesterday. It took a while and hoping it icing up so badly over Christmas was a blip, it should have been done sooner but I'm using the Covid card in my defence and enjoying snuggling up in the TLC carriage so much.
159 - emptied bathroom bins
160 torn plastic bags
161-167 glass jars recycling
168-169 cardboard boxes in car boot recycling
170-1 glove
171-t shirt cut up for dusters
173- food caddy scraps collected
174-tray of pork shoulder steaks, defrosted and cooked but they didn't taste right so binned☹
175-181 plastic bottle and tin cans recycled
182-frog tickled
183-35mb of pictures transferred from phone to sim.
Sorting and deleting the pictures is a real achievement for me so I am planning on doing some more in the next few days.
I need to learn how to use this site properly so I am off to read about quotes so I can comment.
@dND I can identify with feeling overwhelmed with paperwork but it is amazing how much smaller the pile is if you throw away the envelopes
@MrsSD I would be proud of those leeks. Even with potatoes I only manage to grow enough for a few meals but they taste better than anything from the shops.

A few more things out - again mostly books but also the tote bag I borrowed and some underwear gone at the seams (the fabric basically shredded so it's too flimsy to mend). An old cracked eggcup out and new one in (I say new, but it's secondhand and actually marked 1958 on the bottom, although that might be when the pottery was founded rather than the age of the eggcup), and a palette knife lost and two new ones bought. Some pastel 'tupperware' caught my eye in JS too, so I'm at 14 things in, 29 out, making a balance of 37 to go. That's an average of something in every two days this month, which I'm a bit shocked at, honestly. If I hadn't been tracking it I'd have guessed five or six.Fashion on the Ration 2025 - 27.5 coupons remaining

Well I sorted my bedding, 2 duvet sets & 3 king-size fitted sheets are now waiting for my sis-in-law to pick them up 😊
Another bag of unwanted clothing gone to Banardos when I went to Aldi, where I bought some foodbank items as well as the few items I wanted for me. I'm trying to eat from the freezer & store cupboards until I go away in March, so am only shopping now & then.

So after the log moving yesterday I decided to book a tip trip and have a go at the lean too. I spent 2 and half hours sorting and doing the tip run. It's not great, but it is much better. There is still alot of storage stuff that is wanted, but itried to put away everything that I could! I also decided to count items for fun - 156 bits and pieces decluttered

Well have been clearing the side of the house today.
Two bags of rubbish picked up and binned, 3 boxes shifted, 3 canvas frames, an old greenhouse frame broken down and general tidy up done. Counting as 20 items gone.
Making a plan to start a proper house declutter today and starting tomorrow.
I definitely have a frog to tackle tomorrow.....my bedroom.Making Changes To Save My LifeCurrent weightloss - 2lbs (week 1)17 -
wishus said:What I'm counting today: a glass in a gift bag, crushed by a fainting husband. He's okay, it was a few days ago. And two bottles of disgusting herb cola. We weren't ever going to voluntarily drink them, so pointless keeping them.
Not counting: funky dead mouse. That's a stinky mouse not a disco mouse. Located under the bed. Thanks, cat...to the disco mouse! Ours used to bring in frogs that would hide under the cupboards only to be found when we did a thorough cleaning. I suspect OH's smoking covered any funkiness.
And I always think a whole funky beast is better than a partial one. Like the half a bird ours presented on the bit of duvet between us at 3 am.

1. Write a daily To Do list - only 3 tasks + a weekly Jettison Junk in January
2. Sort out sleep patterns - target bed by 2:00 a.m. & up by 9:00 a.m
3. Deal with mail & email on a daily basis
4. Don’t put it down, put it away + deal with mini tasks as soon as they are noticed e.g. refill olive oil pourer or salt cellar, stitch up a hole in a garment etc
5. Commence ‘Operation Frog Tickling’ using the acronym - I.R.I.S. (Identify, Research, Implement, Sign Off) - One per quarter
6. Continue to keep kitchen clean & tidy - before going to bed
Sunday is another bright, sunny afternoon (the morning was probably the same but ashamed to say I missed it completely 😔). DH made my first cuppa & I have taken some mince out of the freezer & done a bit of knitting whilst I try to wake up 😉 A quick scan of the thread & I see that many of the declutterati having already done a huge amount of decluttering today 🤩 No plans today apart from catching up with the cheerleading 😂
~FlowerPot~, what do you mean “no decluttering” 🤨 You had a very successful morning of decluttering logs from the wrong place to the correct place 👏 & as you did it all on your own I am awarding you a medal 🏅 As to the other family members not lending a hand, I am putting them in the naughty corner…… of the garden & then sending them to bed without any supper 🤨
oceanspirit, ask me how I knew to make that suggestion 🤣 Very pleased to hear that you found the missing papers 😊 I think your concentration & mine have sneaked off on holiday together 😉
Brie, I suppose the one advantage of the womblers visiting is that the official chaps only have the lighter debris to collect - after all you wouldn’t want them hurting themselves 🤣 Ooh your own Mary Berry 😉 I hope he tidies up after himself 🤞
Deni_debt-free_dreamer, sorry to hear that DD2 has been ill 😔 but pleased to hear that your tender ministrations have helped her to recover 🙂 No wonder you needed to spend some time in the TLC Carriage. Very useful to know people/places that can accept decluttered items especially if someone else can drop them off 😉 Well done DD1 👏 Some excellent decluttering in the kitchen 👏
Moorviews, not only some excellent decluttering but also very impressed with the shampooing of the carpet 👏 Just wondering if that kitchen drawer is completely empty now? If it is I would be opening it every time I walked by just to admire it & as a reminder of a successful decluttering session 😉 Some lovely cheerleading 😊 - I might just have to get you to join the cheerleading squad 😉
EnergyShifter, it always a relief when workmen do a good job 😮💨 & it sounds like the roofers are doing exactly that 👏 Pleased to hear that you managed to get out of the house for the afternoon & fingers crossed that the better weather continues as it will make it easier to get back into the habit of daily walking 🤞
A good place to stop as I need a drink refill 😉 Back shortly.
