No I am not worried by it - I was asked why it matters how often data is sampled - and gave an example - how data frequency can impact it's use.If I was going to be getting paranoid about someone tracking - far more likely to be smart cars or smart phones - than meter data. But life's too short. My later post on the subject of variable time of use however could if really worried sit easily on top of that post as well.Variable time of use charging was part of many objections to smart meters - it still is for many - and so yes ability to spot periods of high usage could be key to that.Admittedly policy more likely to be focused on masses rather than individuals - but the theoretical potential is still there. As are the real world examples - at least currently savings - for those on grid peak reduction payments - those against would fear it could be price penalties instead - just like it works out on the only UK domestic TOU tracker tariff - agile - typically 4-7pm often at a much higher price than other times - leading others to prefer the daily tracker version instead.I've never come across reports of anyone in the UK having their supply throttled by a credit smart meter to nkW or nkWh at peak etc - but the fact it's theoretically possible - sees it raised in some such posts.

Prepayment non smart meter - I topped my meter on the 31st December - I normally do it on the 1st or 2nd of every month, but was posting on the how year has gone thread and my amount was left £1.50
, topped up £10.
Before key went in, old rate, key went in they applied the new rate0 -
That sounds atypical - iirc ML was advising people to top up early.Saying sometimes even it would take more than one such top up before rates increased."You also don't need to send a meter reading in if you're on prepay, as you pay for your energy as you go – though if you have a non-smart electricity meter, it's a good idea to top up your meter before Monday 1 January, as for most, you'll continue to pay the current lower rates until you next top up after pries change."Guess your one of the unlucky not covered by the "as for most"
