Welcome @Teaparty_mum 😊 I am sorry that you have had such a tough time with your health but it sounds like you have a good plan to look after yourself well.
I have been keeping up with the thread but a lot of my slow living efforts were thwarted. It’s part of living in a popular tourist area; lots of people like to visit and meet up in the summer! Obviously I am delighted to see them but it makes for quite a hectic time with more eating in pubs than I would choose myself. The menus are quite samey! The summer hasn’t played ball with some of my visions of summer: hours on the sunlounger, painting in the garden, outdoor yoga and wine at sunset. Too cold, wet, windy or cloudy for much of the aforementioned most of the time. Something I have managed most days is an hour of reading in the garden even if I have had to wrap up for it! The summer harvests have not been very good at all either. I have been sewing still and enjoyed making a couple of new tee shirts and underwear with the remaining fabric. Now, I have got my crochet out again as it has turned colder. We have had a lovely blowy walk on the beach this week and enjoyed looking at the many beautiful and diverse pebbles. We decided to pay a very rare visit to the city, have lunch at a restaurant and go to the wonderful museum there. It has had a revamp since I went with the children. We both really enjoyed being able to look around at our leisure and I learned a lot that I didn’t know about the local area.Food has been hit and miss but we are back in the flow of good eating and, as always, I feel much better for it. I have kept up with some exercise but probably not enough!@leftatthetrafficlights - I like Ben at growveg too. He is always very enthusiastic and inspiring as well as informative. I will check out some of the others regarding yoga and meditations. Achieving peace of mind is very difficult for me at the moment. It’s great that grand baby enjoys his new class.@Wednesday2000 - it is nice finally to have a life free from the demands of a work timetable. Hopefully you will have fewer migraines now that life has a more regular rhythm.@Florafauna - the move sounds successful and I am glad you have found lovely places to swim.@Brie - hopefully your mom is loving having you there to talk to.5 -
We had a pleasant evening out at an amateur production of Educating Rita.
A film is being shown at a local village memorial hall this week, with a free cup of tea provided.
The indoor bowls starts again in another village hall later this month, and they are planning a fish and chip supper.
There is an exhibition of paintings by local artists at the town library, and when I went last week there was a large jigsaw which passed a few peaceful minutes. I shall visit more often, take my knitting and flask of tea, and see what else they have on offer, as well as the free books.
I haven’t visited the free museum and art gallery for a while, or used my bus pass.
I should check what groups the local U3A groups have available. We haven’t been since Covid.6 -
I like Happy Highland Living and have subscribed. She is the reason that I'm craving soup as I watched a video where she was showing what she ate in a day. It isn't soup weather today as it is warm and sunny. A good day for having the laundry on the line outside, though.
I ordered some tickets for a film at the Prince Charles theatre close to Christmas as I enjoyed that last year as I can see the lights and decorations at the same time. I ordered a ticket for a show at a local theatre too for next month.
I'm going to have a magnesium salt bath tonight when it gets cooler. I will do a meditation 🧘♀️ in there as that is the only place I can concentrate.

Evening chums, well today my DD and son-in-law went out this morning to meet a friend of hers who has finally made it over to live on the IoW.
I was happy to potter around at home, as they have three dogs and as its been a lovely warm day they have been in and out of the garden.
I meanwhile did two wash loads and hung them out to dry, peeled the veg for tonights dinner, which my son-in -law made ( beautiful half leg of lamb) and also emptied the recycling and general waste bins as the dustmen come tomorrow.
Then I sat down with a cuppa and caught up on a couple of small mending jobs for DD.She had a pair of cotton trousers that had a tiny rip in so they were sewn up, and I also had a shoulder seam in a jumper thats been on the to-do list for too long so that was sorted.
Followed by feet up and another cuppa and read some of my book.
DD and son-in law came home around lunchtime and she made a light lunch as we eat our main meal in the evening. She brought home some HM lemon cake from her friend for me so that also required another cuppa (I'm definitely a tea addict )
DD and I played whist while my son-in-law cooked dinner, and very yummy it was as well, he's a jolly good cook and does dinner most evening as DD works full time.
In return I washed up (we are awaiting the builder coming to renovate the kitchen so, as we have only been here since July the dishwasher is still packed up in the garage) ,but I don't mind washing up as there is only three of us and I can do it quicker than a dishwasher.
I then stripped the rest of the meat from the lamb, and tomorrow will make a Shepard's pie with it
A really nice day with a bit of sitting in the beautiful sunshine here on the IoW with my feet up and my book and cuppa by the side of me. Just a slow take-my-time- sort of daybut seemed to have got a lot done.

Good morning everyone, I hope you’re all well ?
Yesterday I was absolutely focused and completed all the jobs around the house that needed doing, laundry washed, ironed and put away, general housework, walked the dog 2x, (my DS took over the rest of the walks) cut the grass in the back garden then by 6.30pm I was bathed and in bed and asleep by 8.00pm.
Recently I’ve been living on 2.5 hours sleep but last night I had 8 hours which I’ve not had in a long time.
Been up since 3.55 am and not long back from walking the dog in our local green space. I love taking him out early mornings because it’s so peaceful and I see and hear the foxes that are in the woods, since my mental breakdown I just love being out in nature and I hardly leave the house due to acute anxiety, only leave the house for what I call “important appointments “ that can’t be done over the phone but this I can manage.

@Teaparty_mum - that was a very productive day and so lovely that you had a good night of sleep too. I wake very early too and think it is wonderful to be out in the early morning. We had another trip to the coast yesterday and met friends for a good catch up. It is always so uplifting to see the sea and the season has quietened down considerably which makes for more pleasant journeys and parking. It’s just me and the dog today so we will do some fun stuff together and hopefully I will tire them out enough for me to do some more sewing. I need to finish these trousers before I put any winter pounds on as they are a close fit already! I did make a toile but the muslin was a looser weave than the fabric I am using.I am picking up some good ideas from you all for future days.2

Today for me has been another productive day, even though I cleaned the house, I found myself cleaning it again. For me, cleaning eases my anxiety and I love seeing the end result and the clean smell. Now sitting with a brew x

A lovely drying day. The bedding all washed and hung out in the sunshine, where it dried completely.
I picked the last few blackberries from the garden and pruned out the old canes, and all but the three best new canes for next year’s fruit. I do like thornless varieties, we used to do battle with a viciously thorny, Himalayan Giant blackberry.
I got the prunings all cut up and into the green wheelie bin in time for the collection.3 -
Nice slow day, sewing then beach side picnic. Tidying and cooking4
