I wondered if anyone in here had any good ideas for storing home made bread? I've been making a loaf here and there over the past few months but it always seems to go stale within a day or two and is never as good as it is fresh out of the oven, even a few hours later. I've been wrapping it in layers of clingfilm but that feels very wasteful and I'm quite conscious that this is a very modern solution to what must be an age old problem!£2023 in 2023 challenge - £17.79 January3

Nancy Birtwhistle (does lots of you tubes) made a bread bag in a post I saw recently.

@Florafauna - I hope the cold has improved, well done on getting some packing started 😁
@kiss_me_now9 - I'm afraid I have no advice to offer. My hm bread never lasts more than 24 hours 🙄 hopefully the link that @Valli has given will help you find a solution 🤞
Today is going to be reasonably slow - I've been out for a walk and met a new puppy friend!! 😍 she's a gorgeous 11 week old border collie and just fabulous!! 🥰 her owner is looking forward to when he can actually walk her as opposed to carrying her 😂
I've come back and put some almonds and chickpeas in to soak as I'm making hommous later and I'm also going to try making some mince with almonds and mushrooms instead of walnuts and mushrooms today - I have more almonds to use so if it works I'll be happy! I'm only doing half of the soaking almonds at first so if it doesn't work I'll use it as a basis for some type of loaf and the remaining soaked almonds for milk 😉
I'm going to finish my chamomile tea, strip the bed and pop to the shop. When I get home it will be cooking (always a pleasure for me), cleaning the house (I'm actually loving doing this again - I'm really hoping my dd stays in her new job so I don't have to relinquish control of it!! 😂) then some sowing seeds and potting on before my asana practice, self-care and meditation couple of hours this afternoon 😁 I do love my days! 😍
Hope you all have a lovely slow day 😁

What an excellent looking meal, I had spinach, mushrooms and poached eggs for dinner. Really delicious5

Thanks @Valli, I'm pretty naff with a needle and thread though and my OH might kill me if I buy a bulk order of beeswax pellets so I will have a look and see if anyone is selling them near me.
@leftatthetrafficlights it doesn't normally hang around but I'm on a diet and OH was out at work all week as we've got our bathroom done! Definitely needs to be made on a Saturday morning so we can plough through it quicker in future
Today is my last day of maternity leave and I've come down with a stinking cold so I'll be having a chilled one today. LO is at nursery until 2pm and then once I've picked him up I'll walk round to the library, return our books from last week and then pop to the shop for some more milk. I need to think of an evening meal and I'm wondering if jacket potatoes might be the ticket£2023 in 2023 challenge - £17.79 January5 -
@Florafauna - thank you! I'm glad you enjoyed your dinner 😁
@kiss_me_now9 - I hope you enjoyed your last day of maternity leave and it all goes well being back at work 😁
Yesterday I cleaned the house, did some reading and watched some 'car crash' TV - I haven't had the TV on for a while (other than for music on YouTube) so it was quite nice to just slob out and completely turn my brain off 😂 Dh had leftovers for dinner and I had some of the almond and mushroom bolognese with pasta - very tasty and we'll have it again tonight so no need to cook again today.
I'm expecting a bark delivery today for my pathways so I'm really hoping that the wind and rain stop for a couple of hours once it arrives 😳 I'm getting very tired of this weather now - I'm longing to have some time in the garden where I'm not cold, wet or fighting to keep my hair out of my face!! 🤦♀️ Other than the delivery, I have nothing planned today so it will be a day of reading and relaxation 😁

I'm having a slow day at home. I did some laundry just now so it will be dry by tomorrow as we are having the estate agent over to get another valuation. I'm going to read my book in a minute with a cup of tea. I was chuffed to find it in a free book library as I had it on my library list.5

Having some very slow days up here with my step dad and mum. He has done really well and it was mild stroke thank goodness. Thank you for the good wishes 🥰
Just a thought on the bread storage conundrum. I make bread and then cut the loaf in half and freeze half. Then I can just bring it out when needed.Sounds like there’s some lovely slow times happening. Enjoy 😊4
