I want to go to Liverpool at some point.
I am waiting for my dog to be picked up to go to the kennel and we need to deep clean upstairs and then we are going out to see a film this afternoon. My brother and his girlfriend are staying over tomorrow night and she is allergic to pet hair. I am meeting a couple from London along with them at a local cafe tomorrow for lunch which should be nice. I will take a pic of the beach to put on here if the tide is in!4 -
Wednesday2000 said:Have you felt sea sick at all Brie?
I was thinking of going on a cruise, but realised I probably would get sick. I don't drive, but even in the back of a car I feel sick. The only thing I can use without feeling sick is trains and the bus. I'm glad I didn't book a cruise before that thought struck me!
I am not a great traveller (yes, sick in the back of car as a child! & still feel sick in the back) but I love cruising
I can recommend the sea bands- they work on most folk with pressure on acupressure points (not on pulse points!)
If it is forecast for a (Beaufort scale) force 4 or more I take a Stugeron tablet before breakfast as well as the bands
Of course we live on an island surrounded by can-be-rough seas! The ferry was more than 3 hours docking at Holyhead last week due to gale force winds, it couldn't get alongside.... so to avoid that you might consider a fly cruise. Not so convenient but you will miss the English Channel, the North Sea, the Irish sea......etc!
I like not just going to new destinations but all the social things on board such as quizzing, deck games, fine diningBeing polite and pleasant doesn't cost anything!

Thanks for the info Katie. That is helpful.🥰 I'm going to go on a plane for the first time since 2008 this year and I can't even remember if I feel ill on them too.
We haven't travelled as we have had so many rescue pets and it would be too expensive to board them all. I only have 3 now so we are going to board my dog and my brother will work from home at my house and look after my two cats. If anyone was wondering why!2025 GOALS

Morning my fellow slow worms
Slow but busy day planned here. First a walk and a swim after pegging out the washing. Yes! No rain here today and a strange bright light in the sky.
Going to bake some sourdough and then gently start packing for our house move.
Have got a strange yearning for rhubarb crumble so will have to make some.
Have a good day all x5 -
@Valli - glad you had a lovely time in Liverpool 😁 I've only been once and that was a work thing so didn't really get to see much of the city but I enjoyed my time there anyway.
@Wednesday2000 - I hope you have a lovely time with your relatives and friends 😊 Having pets certainly impacts the ability to go away bit they're worth it 😍
@Katiehound - the fly cruise idea sounds like a good option! I've never heard of them before (in all honesty there's no way on the planet I'd do a cruise so I'm not surprised! 😂)
@Florafauna - sounds like a lovely day 😁 good luck with the packing and I hope your rhubarb crumble hits the spot!!
This morning I have attended a course and I'm planning to spend the rest of the afternoon on the sofa, reading 😁 I was going to do some seed sowing and potting on but it's really chilly out there; apparently it's going to be 2° warmer tomorrow so it can wait until then 😉
I'll probably do a bit of meal planning tomorrow too; I've got lots of meal lists in various places that I've made over the years and I've found an old empty notebook so I'm going to write them all in it to make life easier 😊 It could take some time!! 😳😂
Have a lovely slow day 😁

Hmmm, no packing or crumble making happened as I had a long nap after swimming and walking. Fancy scarf Mark Two is finally finished tho5

Good morning Slowsters,
Having popped back after a bit of an absence I have been super slow and got precisely nothing done around the house and it’s looking a bit chaotic! This doesn’t help a slow life as it takes more effort to get anything done but my glass work is doing really well😆
Unfortunately I drive up to Cumbria for a few days as my elderly step father is in hospital having had an episode that may be a TIA. At least they think it is but as it’s a weekend there’s no MRI! Bit worrying. Still as I am learning to look for the positives I have a 300 mile journey to listen to my books and I have 2 siblings so we take these things in turns. We all live a long way away so nothing is ever easy. One of my sons is coming for Sunday lunch today beguiling set off so it will be nice to see him.I hope you are all having a relaxing day thinking about yummy purple sweet potatoes, outdoor swims, playing with grandchildren, gardening, vegan store Cupboard challenges and how to blitz that cursed ground elder!🙂6 -
Morning all
Had a busy ish day yesterday but managed to fit a nap in before making tea and then watching BBC twos 60th birthday celebrations. Haven’t heard all the music so may catch up with that later.
I have a pile of ironing to do, which will be doubled as i’ve more to peg out, taking advantage of the dry, sunny weather. I’ve also invited the rest ofthe family for sunday dinner, though we eat that late afternoon, so that’s DS, DiL, (not official but quicker to type) and the Aged Peas, mum has her birthday Tuesday. It’ll be interesting to see if she remembers, she has vascular dementia and Alzheimer’s. ( remembers her birthday, that is) so fancy desserts are planned to satisfy her sweet tooth ( a symptom). I’m doing pavlova with an M&S meringue base, DD has made tiramisu. Ironing and cooking Sunday dinner is quite enough for one day, but I ought to clean the rabbit hutch too.My friends and I are planning to see the Amy Winehouse biopic this week.
Hope everyone has a lovely day with some sunshine.Don't put it DOWN; put it AWAY"I would like more sisters, that the taking out of one, might not leave such stillness" Emily DickinsonJanice 1964-2016
Thank you Honey Bear6 -
@Florafauna - a long nap instead of packing etc sounds more than reasonable to me! 😁 I'd like to see a piccie of fancy scarf 2 😉
@Slowdown - sorry to hear about your step father 😔 I hope he recovers quickly and your journey is good 🤞 Have a lovely lunch with your son 😁
@Valli - I hope your family dinner goes well and that your mum has a lovely birthday! 😁
I was up early today and decided to get my food inventory onto dh's laptop so that he can print it out for me tomorrow- it will help me keep track! 😁 I also found all the meals in the various places I'd written them and put all those on the laptop too - there are 71 so far and I still have plans to make directly from the inventory so I'm going to try to do three months worth as it's only another 22 to make up! 😉 Almost all of them only need fresh fruit and veg adding to storecupboard stuff so it will be interesting to see how much I can reduce my grocery bill over the next three months 😁
Anyway, after my mammoth computer session, I did a bit of reading then had a lovely hot shower and then a yoga nidra session- I'm feeling very relaxed now so will check youtube to see if anyone I follow has posted anything then put on some meditation music...
Have a lovely slow evening 😁

So an even slower day today as I've been trying to recover from a bit of a cold as I have lots on tomorrow. But I did sit and pack some ornaments from the dining room. Half a box full which is a good start.
@slowdown, sorry to hear about your stepfather, I hope things aren't too bad and that you are all able to support each other5
