Charged for broadband before installation

I opened an account with Community Fiber on Dec 9 and booked an installation appointment for the 19.

When I received the confirmation email, the renewal date is on 8 Dec and each month is being charged in full, including the first, in which I will have 10, days less of service.
There is no warning on their website alerting this is how they operate.

I would have expected a discount of 10 days during the first month for account for the days between account creation and installation, because they are obviously not yet providing the service I have contracted.
I rang cust svcs but they just referred me back to the T&Cs, where I have found no reference to this situation.

Has anyone come across this before?
Am I being unrealistic in expecting to pay only from installation day?
Any advice is appreciated

I am currently with No-One internet.   They charged me the full amount 20 days before installation.  They then changed the renewal date to the date of the installation so I only paid for exactly a month in advance.

Yes you are being unrealistic, it’s pretty common practice, if you ever stop being a customer, those days paid for but without service are effectively refunded, or the service provided not charged for …it’s to the business advantage to do this and not yours ( basically you give them a small interest free loan ) but the alternative to charging in advance, is charging in arrears, and that means many would simply never pay for the last month of service…
Some companies may have a billing system that although still charging in advance may start on the installation date , the one you use apparently doesn’t , it just means the refund should you leave will be larger ( more days refunded) than one that starts on the installation date and not the date the contract is struck .
