Very late to the party, but would like to join for the remainder of 2024 if possible.

i started making daily repayments in August, not much, but enough to chip off a month to my mortgage free day (Originally March 2041… when I will be 70 🤦‍♀️).  Mainly debt repayment focused at the moment, but seeing a couple of quid come off my mortgage each day is keeping me motivated for the looooong road ahead.
Of course you can! Can you just let me know your target for this year and if you like the total overpayments you've made already, so I can allocate you a number? :)
Thank you 😁 I would like my total for the year added. I’ve kept a record of each (tiny) repayment so I’ll put that on the thread when I get home from Austria on Monday.

My target for 2024 is £939, which I think cuts 3 months off the mortgage duration. The target for 2025 will be larger as I’ll have the full year to aim for.

We did it!!!  Mortgage Free today!!!

So we had £12,350 on our remaining balance. We are allowed to put 10% in without any fee, which left us owing approximately £2000. The fee on the £2000 I calculated to be no more than £40.

But to be sure with everything, I called up the mortgage lendor and got the final figure to pay off and be free and they said £12402.34 and I said thank you very much. Paperwork and debit closures etc all to be completed within 2 weeks.

We bought our home in Dec 2016, since then we've had 2 more kids and a whole bunch of challenges and nightmares like anyone else but we persevered and today we are finally free.

Congratulations! That's such an achievement, well done

#43 - my total overpayment for the year to date is £466.67. Not too shabby, considering I only started overpaying on the 19th of August 😁

unlikely I will make my £939 target by 31st December, but I’m determined to get close.

that is a fantastic achievement, well done very inspiring when you see others meeting the mortgage free goal, I am still hoping for and aiming for the mid/end of 2026 to pay off mine by but will see what life throws at me.
