NOW Broadband Retention Deals
Does anyone have any recent experience of dealing with NOW
Broadband retentions?
I'm already out of contract but my current package discounts are expiring soon - Super Fibre + Anytime Calls, £22.50 p/m rising to £46.50 p/m.
I had a brief chat the other week and NOW wouldn't budge
from £25 p/m with no call package included. I mentioned that other providers
like Onestream were cheaper (including NOW at £24) but that didn't make any
difference. They said they had no authority to offer anything lower. In previous years, they would usually offer to keep bills the same - they have already raised prices by £3.50 in July.
Any examples of recent NOW retention deals to aim for, or haggling tips would be much appreciated. Thanks.

I was sent the same thing a few months ago ie about £40 but there was also some offer on at £25, I rang to renew and they gave it to me for £22.50. Don't know about calls being included as I never make any and don't have a landline plugged in1

NowBB have always (until recently perhaps) usually sent an automatic renewal email at the same price but without the calls package. I don't know why people struggle with phone calls trying to get prices down when you can simply sign up to someone else online at a cheaper price.2

Many thanks for replying.I don't suppose you remember if you spoke to a local call agent or not? In the past, I think I spoke to a call centre in N.Ireland. On this occasion, it sounded further overseas - I'm wondering if that's why they stated they had no authority to offer anything lower.0

I recently renewed with NOW, including unlimited call package, but had e-mail with an offer increase of £8 per month [to £29.50]. I decided to take it as a “Bird in the Hand” and I couldn't find anything much better at that time.

As such, it's probably cheaper to look at an unlimited minutes mobile sim.0

In Dec 23 I was offered 25.50 + 8 (calls) = £33.50. I phoned and accepted as it was cheaper than anything else I could find. Plusnet don't offer calls anymore, for example.
Recently my monthly payment was rejected for some reason, so I immediately changed payment method to a different credit card. I just didn't realise that this would leave the payment outstanding.
However, I got absolutely ZERO warning by email, text or phone that I was facing getting cut off, until suddenly my internet stopped working.
It turned out that I received an email AFTER being cut off, which I didn't receive till services were restored!
Lots of playing around with the router, cables etc didn't help, so I lifted the phone to call NOW. My phone said something about connecting to NOW, and that's when I realised something was up. I couldn't connect using the home phone, so used an 0800 number to contact NOW.
After a horrible experience dealing with a series of people working in some overseas call centre (my renewal call in Dec was also an overseas call, although previous tech issue calls had been in the UK) I decided that no matter the price, I COULD NOT STAY WITH SUCH A COMPANY.
I've also got a different issue that I've turned into a raised complaint, by email.
I will be paying more, but I'll be very glad to be an ex-customer of NOW come 31 Jan!0 -
Was on £26.50 Super Fibre contract, email offer came in at £25.50, renewed at £24 yesterday on phone.1

Thanks to all that replied.
When I eventually renewed, it seemed the best offer was £1 more than the current price on the NOW website - so £24/£25 (vs £23/£24). The call centre staff said the extra charge was equivalent to the £10 router delivery charge that new customers pay. There were no discounts on Call Packages.
The website price fell by £1 during my 14 day cooling off period, so I was able to call and get the further monthly reduction without any trouble.
